Reebok Nano 7.0 Missfire

Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up. Today’s edition was chalked up while looking at the new Reebok Nano 7.0 that appears to have been accidentally posted to the CrossFit Store last night then removed.

P.S. Don’t forget to start plan your 2017 fitness goals with the Chalk Up goal planner.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU HIT THE BOX

Beyond the Whiteboard teamed up with Jason Khalipa for challenge #2 and instead of winning the WOD, completing it gives you a chance to win the drawing. Jason Khalipa officially launched his EMOM programming – no not just the ones he’s been posting to Instagram – but a full set of programming with scaling options (first 100 subscribers get a free month). Team Juggernautladies took home Gold at the American Open. Alex Parker’s Rx Smart Gearjumping mat means she can do double-unders in the house. Imagine for a second that Annie Thorisdottir was a Middle Eastern bandit, this is what she’d look like.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

Michele Matyschsyk, co-owner of CrossFit Brickyard, giving a TEDx talk on the state of nutrition in America (it’s bad) and making her case for changing it. Sad Fact: 70 percent of people over the age of 20 are overweight; this includes the obese.

ON THE RADIO

Brute Strength sits down with Greg Everett of Catalyst Athletics, AKA the largest weightlifting education resource online, to talk about getting plugged into competitive weightlifting, finding a coach and online programming.

“Avoid the Smoothie Trap” by Hilary Achauer, CrossFit Journal

“Smoothies are delicious and easy to prepare. Even the most novice cook can handle throwing ingredients in a blender and pressing a button. Smoothies are also a good way to get a quick post-workout hit of protein and carbohydrates, but if you’re not careful you can easily blend your way to overconsumption, derailing your diet.

“Nick Massie, who goes by “Paleo Nick,” is a chef and the owner of Ice Age Meals. He cautions against making smoothies part of your daily diet.

“‘Consuming macronutrients as liquids immediately causes a blood-sugar spike,’ Massie said.”

Gaglione Strength in Farmingdale, NY hosted their first Teen and Novice Powerlifting Competition this past Saturday and a 14-year-old CrossFitter from Queens won the 220 pound weight class with a combined total of 1000 pounds lifted, including a 405 pound deadlift and a 215 pound bench press.
