WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU HIT THE BOX

Behind the Scenes at the 2016 CrossFit Games Episodes 1-6 are live, but you’ll need to pay to watch, or you can see just Episode 6 for free. Tasisa Percevecz hits a 235 pound push jerk PR. Greg Glassman is headed to Boston to continue his crusade against Big Soda’s influence in the health and wellness industry. You could win $1000 from FitAid if you correctly guess the split between Ro v. Boz; we guessed a statistical tie.

Teresa Trojanowski, we see your PR happy dance.

Open Advice from Jason Khalipa — “Here’s an Open tip for you that I have used competing live for the announcement or at the gym to set my best score. I warm up the same, eat the same, and create a game plan in my head on how to approach the workout. You analyzed, created a plan, now it’s time to execute on the plan. Don’t worry about what others do, worry about what’s in your control and follow the plan. Then with a min or two left throw the plan away and go for it!”

A Ronin in a samurai with no master, thus we are 11 Ronin.”Finally a store catered to CrossFitters, Olympic weightlifters, and extreme runners opens its doors and it’s next to a Trader Joe’s. The owner, Malissa Murphy, does CrossFit in Virginia Beach and opened the store so people like her could actually try on the stuff they wanted to buy online.

“Why the CrossFit Open Matters” by Athlete Daily

CrossFit can be intimidating. Competing in CrossFit even more so. But with Thursday set to unveil 2017’s first CrossFit Open workout, it’s important for everyone —from your 75 year-old-grandfather to back-to-back Games champion Katrin Davidsdottir — to remember that the Open is just about YOU.

Yes, you. You debating on whether to sign up, or ashamed to admit you may be doing scaled or wondering whether you’re stronger than your friends (or even yourself at this same point last year).

It’s about you because no matter how hard you work or strong you are there’s nothing you can do about anyone else’s position on the leaderboard or max clean and jerk weight.

“Actor Max Greenfield is Ready for the Open, Just Not Thrusters” by Maureen Quirk, Reebok

Most of the world knows Max Greenfield as the actor who plays the feisty, quick-witted Schmidt on Fox’s hit comedy New Girl.

The individuals who work out at BRICK Los Angeles, however, know a different “Greenfield.” They know him as a toes-to-bar-loving, longstanding member of their CrossFit community.

And like most members of the community, Greenfield is preparing – both physically and mentally – for the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games Open which kicks off on February 23. Greenfield began CrossFit in 2010, just shy of a year before the Open was introduced in 2011.
