This week brought me to the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, FL where I dropped into CrossFit Rack City. Their schedule offers several different programs including CrossFit, Bootcamp, HIIT, Olympic Lifting as well as personal training. Rack City has 80 members and they affiliated in February 2017.
Upon arriving for class, I pulled into a plaza to find a 3,600 sq ft storefront location with plenty of parking and great signage. Walking through the doors I immediately noticed the organization and overall pristine appearance of the facility. The orange and black Monster Lite Rig by Rogue is impressive to say the least, hence the name CrossFit Rack City. Additionally, there was a variety of the latest in fitness equipment including; ski-ergs, rowers, bikes, and even a rogue reverse hyper (see pictures). There was also a small retail area with Ascent Protein and RC Apparel. The gym also had a full bathroom facility including a shower for those looking for these services.
How to drop in.
The website was very informative and led me directly where I needed to be as a visitor. As usual, I proceeded to email the facility directly and schedule my drop-in time. I was contacted almost immediately by the owner Anna Rushing with further instructions and directions from my hotel.
Dropping in as as easy as clicking the CrossFit visitor link which includes everything you need to know to RX your visit to St. Augustine.
The WOD was a true metcon which was programmed by CFRC owner Anna Rushing.
1 minute max cals on rower followed by
1 minute max burpees
30 seconds rest
After the workout I spent some time with Anna and asked her how she got started.
“It’s my passion and dream to help as many humans as possible (AMHAP) with their weight-loss, fitness and athletic journey,” Anna said. “My dream is for Rack City to be full of people helping people. For Rack City to meet people where they are and show them that CrossFit is for everyone, not just the Frasers and Toomeys. I am a single mom that has been in the fitness industry for a little over 7 years with my own weight-loss story. I fell in love with CrossFit a little over two years ago. I am just as much passionate about the physical benefits as I am the mental, social and overall health wellness benefits of CrossFit and it’s community, and commitment to help people in all walks of life. I have an amazing team of Coaches that each bring their special skills and knowledge to maximize a well rounded learning experience for our athletes!”
