The Last Chance Qualifier is underway and we’re anxiously waiting to see how the leaderboard stacks up after day one. But before we get to that, it was a busy week for our sport. Let’s get to the business first, and we’ll play later…

International Games Athletes are cleared for takeoff:

  • For weeks, CrossFit Home Office had been lobbying DHS to get clearance for athletes in restricted countries to travel to the U.S. for the Games. Finally — at just about the last possible second before their dreams of competing at the Games vanished, approval was granted. Well, after filling out some paperwork, anyway. Athletes can also bring a plus one, making this news even sweeter.

The new CrossFit Affiliate Program (CAP) provides affiliates with daily WODs and planning:

  • Add another full-service programming guide to the list. But this one is straight from the CrossFit Home Office. CAP will be led by three former Games athletes and current Seminar Staff creating class plans, in-person and at home workouts and more for affiliates who subscribe.

A look at who might benefit from the programming of the Last Chance Qualifier:

  • With 67 athletes competing for just four tickets (two men and two women) to the CrossFit Games, the Last Chance Qualifier is going to be full of emotions. Some with tears of joy but for most, tears of sadness as their season comes to an end. With just four tests, the programming looks like it could favor some big name veterans.

Comparing the top ten Games athletes from 2019, to now:

  • The 2019 Games field was massive, starting event one with 132 women and 144 men on the competition field. But then, the aggressive cuts left only ten athletes competing in half of the events. We break down how those top ten are looking two years later.

Meet the man who completed 66 miles on the SkiErg, BikeErg, RowErg and Assault Runner in a single day:

  • If you’re looking to beef up your endurance game, why not try erg-ing 66 miles in one day. That’s what Tony Nash did by completing the first ever Ultra Ergathlon. It consisted of a half marathon on the SkiErg, a full marathon on the BikeErg, a half marathon on the RowErg and finished with a half marathon on the Assault Runner. Congrats!

Things you don’t want to miss:

ATHLETES

  • Congrats to Jacob Heppner who secured a podium position, taking second at the Tactical Games over the weekend.
  • From 2014 Fittest Woman on Earth, to bodybuilding and physique competitions. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet will have her first show on October 2, 2021, exactly one year and one day after her daughter, Zoe, was able to come home from the hospital.
