Jonne Koski was Mr. Consistent in Test 2 at the Europe Semifinal, finishing with an unofficial test record of 57 reps, edging out Scott Tetlow and Colton Mertens, who clocked 56 reps last week at the North America West Semifinal.

  • Koski: “It was not quite as much as I did in training, but I am happy to get this event against a competitive field. It’s a good start for the competition.”

While most athletes across the weeks employed a steady strategy, keeping a little in the tank for a push at the end of the test, Koski threw caution to the wind and clocked 21 reps in the first round. His plan centered around athletes being required to move the box forward every ten reps.

  • “Since you need to move the box every ten reps, it is worth it to push the first round so you can do those two transitions, so you do not need to start with a transition because it always breaks up your rhythm a little bit,” he said

This plan worked well for Koski, who is trying to qualify for his ninth CrossFit Games. Koski now has eleven Regionals or Semifinal event wins.

  • Koski: “I don’t think…anyone has seen the best of me yet.”

This might be the case, as the test win moves Koski into a tie for fourth place with 160 points heading into Saturday.
