Morning Chalk Up is looking for a full-time Head of Business Development to manage and grow brand partnerships and oversee advertising activities. We help promote companies within the CrossFit community using a variety of publication channels, advertising options and through various growth initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating valuable and meaningful strategic relationships with key brand partners, developing a strong roster of established and up-and-coming B2B and B2C brands, meeting quarterly revenue goals and KPIs, and driving growth across multiple channels.

About the position:

  • Represent Morning Chalk Up’s various channels in the advertising marketplace.
  • Drive revenue with integrated packages for advertisers.
  • Prospect, cultivate, develop and maintain relationships with high-level advertising decision-makers at brands and agencies.
  • Work with the Advertising and partnerships team to build custom partnership proposals and presentations for potential brand clients.
  • Deliver on KPIs in growth and revenue:
    • Newsletter subscribers
    • Quarterly Revenue
    • YouTube/Podcast subscribers
  • Oversee a growing Advertising and Partnerships department.
  • Works closely with the Morning Chalk Up team to develop and run growth initiatives (referral program, giveaways, partnership opportunities, etc.)
  • Grow and own additional revenue streams for the Morning Chalk Up brand (apparel, YouTube and podcast sponsorships, Sponsored Guides, Events, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about digital media, brand marketing, and strategic partnerships.
  • Proven track record of meeting specific marketing KPIs and familiarity with goal-oriented advertising.
  • Experience collaborating across creative teams 
  • A strong understanding of media sales as well as packaging and selling digital sponsorships.
  • Previous success winning new business.
  • Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and adept problem-solving skills.
  • Highly attentive to details, excellent time management skills, and ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and hyper-growth environment (such as a startup).
  • Experience working cross-functionally and engaging with and managing stakeholders on projects.
  • Ability to bring new ideas to the table and ideate with stakeholders on growth initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2+ years of digital ad sales experience and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong personal relationships with key brand and agency stakeholders.
  • Experience selling native newsletter advertising products.
  • Experience in meeting growth targets within the publishing industry (digital Newsletter experience highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with the “CrossFit ecosystem.”
