CrossFit St Albans was caught in a raging fire on Monday. The gym is located on an industrial site. An investigation is ongoing to find the cause of the fire, but it appears as though it started two units along in a car garage. The fire then quickly spread and burned all day and night, into the next morning.
One big thing: The owner and manager are reaching out to anyone in the local area who can host them, either short term while they find a new location, or permanently. This could be farmers with sheds, landowners, landlords or anyone with space.
“But if we can’t find a venue, I’m really concerned we aren’t going to make it,” said Claudia Luscombe-Whyte gym manager.
They have raised GBP26,000 via a GoFundMe page already, while other local boxes are talking about holding fundraisers. Other businesses are helping in kind, such as a local print shop that has made trucker caps with CrossFit St Albans’ logo, to raise more money. Zach George, the UK’s Fittest Man 2020, is donating all profits from his brand new clothing collection with MP Activewear to CrossFit St Albans.
In case you missed it: Lauren Kalil, the host of The Bottom Line, spoke to Patrick Clark and Ava Kitzi about who are the teens to watch at the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.
Check it: CrossFit released the scoring tables for the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.
Skate or die?: Kelsey Kiel is rocking Vans while doing CrossFit and we are definitely feeling this new look. 🔥
WZA update: Wodapalooza outlined qualification spots for masters divisions for the January 2023 competition in Miami, FL.
Off to Ireland: Mat Fraser and the HWPO continue to ink new event appearances and the latest is the Filthy 150 in Ireland which will take place October 21-22.
All great ideas start somewhere. For NOBULL, it was the 50’s Diner in Dedham, Massachusetts.
It was here Marcus Wilson and Michael Schaeffer started meeting once a month in 2010 for breakfast, a budding friendship born out of the workplace that has spilled over as the two bonded both ideologically and philosophically.
There is no denying the resumes of the duo: Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell, an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and spent time in Africa helping build a $145 million power plant project in Ghana. Schaeffer has a master’s in mechanical engineering from his home country of Austria and a master’s degree in industrial design from the Pratt Institute, while also working in Japan during the early stages of his career.
But how did these two go from the world of STEM to making sportswear shirts and shoes with a distinct design?
For the second year in the row the NOBULL CrossFit Games will host six divisions for adaptive athletes. A total of 30 athletes will compete across those divisions to be crowned the Fittest. Four of the six champions from the inaugural season return to defend their titles.
There will be three adaptive categories each with a men’s and women’s division with the top five athletes in the Semifinals of their respective divisions receiving a Games invitation to Madison, WI.
Upper Extremity Division
Lower Extremity Division
Neuromuscular Division
The first day of competition for the adaptive divisions will start on Thursday, August 4 and will end on Saturday, August 6.
The top-three finishers of each respective Semifinals are listed below.
Today’s workout is programmed by Lauren Fisher. One of the most popular and gifted athletes in the women’s division, next week she will make her seventh CrossFit Games appearance as she takes the floor with CrossFit Reykjavík in the team division. Her workout comes straight from her Grown Strong fitness programming where she has a free trial available.

This is 48 minutes of continuous work, so no rest between each EMOM. You can perform on any machine if you don’t have access to all four. You can change the gymnastics movements depending on what you need to work on.
Some advice from Lauren: “Find a steady pace on the machines that you can consistently hold throughout 48 minutes. The focus here is on gymnastics skill under fatigue.”
