A Look Back: What Did We Learn from the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games Teen Division?
Over the last few seasons we have seen the teen division do what it was intended to do, create the next superstar athletes and feed into the individual divisions.
Whether it was teen alums like Haley Adams or Guilherme Malheiros making the first successful jumps in the men’s and women’s divisions to become perennial top-10 contenders, recent teen athletes like Emma Lawson, Paige Powers, Tudor Magda, Dallin Pepper and Cole Greashaber who all made their Games debuts or in the case of Mallory O’Brien, podium, becoming the first teen alum to do so while also becoming the youngest athlete to ever podium.
So who from this year’s teen division will follow in those huge footsteps? We take a look back at all four divisions and try to provide those answers to that question while also pointing out some achievements, storylines and takeaways you might have missed but should know for the foreseeable future.

Are You Putting Your Coaches on the Fast Track to Burnout?
Jason Khalipa knows a thing or two about longevity in CrossFit.
The 2008 CrossFit Games champion, who opened NorCal CrossFit that year, can only be described as an OG, and is still as invested as ever in fitness today.
Khalipa owns the NCFIT brand, a brand that has locations around the world, while his days usually involve cycling between the seven locations in the Bay Area in California.
Through the years, Khalipa has learned a few tricks about how to prevent coaches from burning out, thus keeping them happy and motivated and able to pursue a lifelong coaching career.
It’s the question many of us have been asking well before the CrossFit Games: is Tia-Clair Toomey retiring? We heard it on the CrossFit Games broadcast, we’ve heard Toomey herself allude to it, so what’s it going to be? Morning Chalk Up’s Lauren Kalil sits down with Dex Hopkins and James Hobart to dissect the topic and discuss what we really think will happen with Toomey going into the 2023 season.
You might not know this, but each one of these shirts goes directly to support the team covering this global support and community. Plus they’re uber soft, like teddy bear soft.
Morning Chalk Up’s limited edition tanks and tees sale ends today at 6:00 PM PT.
WODProof Tackles Rowing Efficiency With Launch of AI Rowing Coach
You may have seen some CrossFit athletes posting videos of themselves rowing with the help of an AI coach. This is the latest update to the WODProof app made possible by the Bionic Mobility Experience.
Remind me: Back in January 2022, WODProof unveiled a new feature for Pro members – WODProof Bionic. This feature used the phone camera to track and analyzed movement in real-time with the goal of providing unique mobility plans for each user.
The first version of Bionic recognized each joint and compared the positions to a Gold Standard, which WODProof based on CrossFit Games competitor Thuri Helgadottir.
This update was only a step in WODProof founder Adam Grinker’s quest to make the app a “super-premium product” that would help athletes become even better than ever before.
How it works: The Bionic Rowing Coach uses the camera to track the joints as athletes move back and forth. The new app compares the movements to the Gold Standard created in collaboration with Anna Mühle, a certified Concept2 coach and a multiple indoor rowing World Record holder.
The Bionic Rowing Coach provides real-time feedback with audio cues that can help athletes and fitness enthusiasts make adjustments on the fly. There is also a video recording that provides visual feedback.
CrossFitters can select one of three rowing technique levels (beginner, advanced, and expert). They will take part in a test that analyzes them over the course of 25 strokes. There will be feedback about common mistakes, such as bending arms too early or not leaning back to the optimal depth.
Today’s workout is programmed by Rebecca Fuselier. The 22-year old captured the hearts of the CrossFit community during her rookie campaign at the Games a month ago. Her toughness and “don’t quit” competitive drive was best captured during the “Capitol” event where she finished the grueling workout, thanks to the community rallying behind her in what became the Games signature and viral moment. The teen division alum finished 30th in her Games debut highlighted also by her runner-up finish in the “Skill Speed Medley”.

EMOM 24
Minute 1: 200m Run
Minute 2: Power Clean + Squat Clean (increase weight each round)
Run – choose a distance that you can complete in :45 seconds or less
Power Clean + Squat Clean – build to heavy weight each round if possible
Row – pick a calorie count that is challenging but you can maintain
Gymnastics – choose a rep scheme that allows you to go unbroken. Hanging knee raises + pull-ups + chest-to-bars
Some advice from Rebecca: “This EMOM has a little bit of everything in it and that’s what I love. We are going to hit all the modalities (weightlifting, gymnastics, and monostructural) for quite a few rounds. I love EMOMs because it is you against the clock and you can adjust the reps and the movement variations for where you are at as an individual. Realize you should be left with a little bit of rest/transition time on each station.”
