The Rogue Invitational wrapped up on Sunday, awarding the largest-ever payout for an off-season competition in both CrossFit and Strongman. Fans came out in droves to watch a star-studded roster throw down in Round Rock, TX, and the livestream racked up several million views in aggregate.

By the numbers: Rogue provided a free livestream on YouTube for all events and all divisions of the Invitational over three days. Twenty-four hours after the close of competition, here are the YouTube stats for the full live stream videos.

  • Day 1: 1 million
  • Day 2: 888,992
  • Day 3: 649,884

It’s also worth noting that the Rogue also released clipped versions of each event, totaling 612.9k views. However, those views were not accumulated live.

•Note: These numbers are constantly updating and will continue to change.

One big thing: The livestream numbers are good, but they pale in comparison to the CrossFit Games, which tallied nearly 10 million just for individual and team competitions on YouTube.

  • For the most part, they surpass the viewership numbers we witness during the Sanctional season.
  • Rogue represents the pinnacle of licensed CrossFit events with a roster that should draw significant viewer interest.
  • These numbers will continue to increase as YouTube catches up but even with a stacked roster and legends like Jason Khalipa and Rich Froning competing, they didn’t average a million per day.

Why it matters: 1). Livestream views help gauge broad interest in CrossFit as a sport online and 2). Livestream views are also how events monetize sponsorship packages. Generally speaking CrossFit, as a whole, needs to see these numbers on average not just barely cracking a million, but in multiple millions.
