2022 Post-Quarterfinals Worldwide Power Rankings

(Editor’s Note: Rankings updated April 7, 2022 to reflect adjusted averages.)
Prior to the start of the open we released a power rankings of the best athletes in the sport heading into the season. Having gone through the first two parts of the season (the Open and Quarterfinals) for individuals, it’s time to update the list.
This time around, we’ve gathered a panel of five of the leading experts and analysts in the sport who were each responsible for ranking athletes on both the men’s and women’s side one through 20.
Our expert panel includes: Brian Friend, Chad Schroeder, Chase Ingraham, Patrick Clark, and Tommy Marquez. Their lists were compiled to create the following Worldwide Power Rankings at this point in the CrossFit season.
Remind Me: We have only considered athletes who appear to be competing as individuals for this season. People like Annie Thorisdottir and Rich Froning were not considered for this list because they are competing in a different division (team) this year. An athlete like Kristin Holte who is retired would not be considered as well. However, an athlete like Scott Panchik, who said he is retired but has competed in both stages of competition so far and given no indication that he won’t also be at Semifinals (so far), is someone we are still considering.

Noteworthy Statistics:

- There are:
- 17 men represented from North America
- 5 men represented from Europe

- 0 men represented from Africa
- Justin Medeiros received unanimous first place votes.

The massive field that started the season in the Open has been narrowed down to 300 men and 300 women around the world. Of those only 40 men and 40 women will eventually take the field in Madison for the CrossFit Games.
The Bottom Line: Semifinals are still in the way however, and for many athletes, even ones on this list, the path to the Games will be quite difficult. Based on what we’ve seen through the Open and Quarterfinals these are the athletes who we project to be at the top of the sport right now. Things certainly will change again once we see what happens at Semifinals where the roster for the Games will be set. At that point we can narrow our scope to the 40 remaining athletes in each division.
