QUOTE OF THE DAY

Remember that person that gave up? Neither does anyone else.” –Miriam Krug

A 1000 BURPEE PENALTY

The story.

Four Atlanta area CrossFit boxes got together for some good ol’ fashioned competitive fundraising with 1,000 burpees on the line for the loser.

Ouch. What’d they do that for?

The competition was called Battle of the Boxes, a 10-day competition to see which affiliate could donate the most Thanksgiving meal boxes to a local coop. No Excuses CrossFit offered to host and CrossFit AxAt, CrossFit 30518, and CrossFit GATA said “us too please.”

What’s a Thanksgiving meal box?

It’s everything a family would need for a big Thanksgiving meal but without the price tag. Each one of these boxes costs about $50 to donate and helps ease the burden on moms and dads this Thursday.

How’d it end up?

All told, the four affiliates assembled 100 boxes for local families.

CrossFit GATA came up a few short so they’re going to have to drop and give us 1,000. We’d recommend not waiting until Friday.

COFFEE BREAK CONVERSATIONS

What to tell your friend who just bought a new play pen…

Does it comes with bumper plates? Our applause goes out to all you super moms and dads out there who’ll try just about anything to get in a WOD even if you have to jerry rig a play pen at the box to do it. Slow clap CrossFit Trent.

What to tell your friend who’s already overwhelmed by Black Friday…

Give me some space. Black Friday internet marketing is always a little in your face and intense. In the midst of “who can offer a better deal” — here are three things that you might really want to pay attention to cause by Saturday, they’ll be all gone.

THINGS TO…

WATCH: The Birth of Fran

Fear, loathing, excitement, bad memories, you name it. Mention the name Fran and you’ll get a strong response out of any CrossFitter, but few can tell you anything about its origin.

TELL US GREG.

Holiday eating can be stressful, and it’s so hard to figure out what’s OK and what’s not. So before you throw the baby out with the bath water and just gorge, RP Strength has some advice for how to approach your holiday eating.

IT’S OK TO HAVE A LITTLE FUN.

EAT: Thanksgiving Brussels Sprouts and Butternut Squash

It’s almost Turkey day and if you’re looking for another healthy side dish to serve with America’s favorite holiday bird then PaleOMG has got you covered.

STORY SERIES: How has CrossFit helped you achieve a goal?

“I broke my back in 2012. I was a triathlete, climber, active Mom, and suddenly I couldn’t stand up or walk. I had one surgery that failed and a second to correct it, but there was so much damage that I was eventually forced to have a fusion in my L-Spine. Chronic pain, permanent nerve damage, never lifting a gallon of milk — that was my future until I walked into CrossFit Reignited. They gave me the tools to take my life back and stood with me every step of the way. I became Me, and they became my family.” — Brianne Adams, CrossFit Reignited in Hampstead, NC

“Run-Over-Comer” by Emily Beers, CrossFit Journal

Witnesses told Angie Rodriguez she had been run over not once but three times.

On March 20, 2016, Rodriguez was walking across the street in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The next thing she remembers is being dragged along the road under a low-profile Mercedes car before the drunk driver sped off.

After the initial impact, the driver crushed Rodriguez a second time as she backed up to see what she had hit. She ran Rodriguez over a third time when she drove forward again and took off, explained Rodriguez, a coach at 20 Mile CrossFit in Parker, Colorado.

“I don’t remember the first two times, but I remember the third time. And I remember thinking, ‘Not today. Please, not today. My girls need me,’” said Rodriguez, now 41, referring to her two young daughters.
