Day 1 is already underway at the Meridian Regionals in Madrid, Spain, with 2 events for the women already complete. While all eyes are were on Iceland’s two well known Dottirs, Annie and Saraas well as Sam Briggs, Thuridur Helgadottir became the first woman to complete Event 2. Helgadottir’s breakout performance in Events 1 and 2 has propelled her to into the top tier and a force to be reckoned with through Days 2 and 3. Sam Briggs, however, struggled with a 25th place in Event 1 but was able to bounce back to 11th after a 7th place finish in Event 2.

EAST REGIONAL

All eyes are on Katrin Davidsdottir, who is competing for the first time in the East Regional. The reigning Fittest Man on Earth, Ben Smith swept the Atlantic Region clean last week. So the question remains, scan Katrin come out and dominate, leaving no question on the table whether she’s ready to return to the podium in Carson?

CENTRAL REGIONAL

If the top spot in every other Regionals so far played out as expected, Jacob Heppner is the dark horse candidate to steal the show at Central Regional. Julie Foucher is BACK for one last Regional competition. We’d be lying if we didn’t admit we hope she makes the Games. FLASHBACK: remember when we all nearly in tears watching Julie Foucher compete last year. Be on the lookout, Emily Bridgers will be in the stands in Ohio to cheer on Stacie Tovar.
