Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up. Today’s edition was chalked up while in downtown San Diego watching the election coverage.
We’re taking off tomorrow because we’ve been in nine cities in as many days and are exhausted.

THE CHALK UP CALENDAR
A WORD ON OUR CALENDAR
With the new redesign of our email, we moved the calendar down to the bottom (P.S. you can still share your thoughts on the design in this three question survey). We did this for two reasons: 1) so that we could concentrate the best, most up-to-date content at the top, and 2) so that with one quick swipe down on your phone you could easily find it.
THERE’S MORE THAN JUST THOSE SIX EVENTS!!
To keep this email shorter, we only include events that appeal to the broadest audience. This is usually large national and international competitions. However, we’ve added nearly a hundred local, charity and weightlifting events in the past month. Save the Chalk Up Calendar to your favorites and check back often for a competition in your community.
HOW CAN I GET MY EVENT ADDED?
It’s simple, just send us a link to your event and our events curator will add it to the website.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU HIT THE BOX
There’s a 40-year-old Army lieutenant colonel who lives in Arlington, Virginia who just started olympic weightlifting in fall 2015 and won the 40-to-44-year-old 69kg World Championship Title with a 60kg (132 pounds) snatch and an 82kg (181 pounds) clean and jerk. Annie Thorisdottir encouraged everyone to vote by posting perhaps the most ripped photo we’ve ever seen of Annie. Mattie Rogers choked herself out during a clean and the girl sitting next to her doesn’t even look phased. Josh Bridges, Dan Bailey and Rich Froning’s next seminar is in Manchester, England. Kara Webb is now on Team Compex. Sara Sigmundsdottir power snatches 182 pounds.
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
Another olympic weightlifter from Rio competes in the CrossFit Liftoff and snatches 363 pounds and clean and jerks 451 pounds, BUT he’s still in 16th place…gotta be able to METCON ya know?
Meanwhile… Rory McKernan is exploring his Irish roots and getting the fullIrish folk music experience.

“Five things to know about Reebok’s future” by the Boston Globe“When a new chief executive arrives, that leader inevitably wants to make a quick impression, to send the signal that there’s a new boss in town. Kasper Rorsted certainly didn’t waste any time at Adidas. Rorsted quickly threw the Reebok business through its biggest changes since the Adidas acquisition a decade ago: He decided to sell off the space-age Canton campus that was tailor-made for Reebok in 2000, move nearly 700 employees to an as-yet-to-be-named Boston site, and relocate or lay off about 300 more. And he may not be done…2) The focus on fitness over traditional sports isn’t going away…4) Consumers may notice a change on the price tags…there’s a clear belief that more expensive apparel means more profitable apparel. The goal, Stalker said, is to make Reebok “the best fitness brand in the world.”Translation: a premium brand.
