QUOTE OF THE DAY
“This is just your Monday reminder that you are under no obligation to be the same person you were last year, last week, or even yesterday. You can reinvent yourself at any time. You can choose a different path, a different outlook, a different vibe, at any time you damn well please. So who are you going to be today?” — SHE THRIVES
HEY IRMA, WE GOT YOUR BACK
THE AFTERMATH.
What’s more impressive than a community coming together after a devastating storm? A CrossFit community coming together after a devastating storm. CrossFit Fireball in Bonita Springs, FL is really stepping up.
WHAT ARE THEY’RE DOING?
CrossFit Fireball was one of the lucky ones — they dodged the most severe impact of Hurricane Irma. They decided to pass along some of that good favor to any of the CrossFit affiliates in the surrounding area.
Last week, they put a call out to nearby affiliates on Facebook, saying they’d take in their members for free.
Basically here’s what up:
- They’ll coach any member of an affiliate affected by Hurricane Irma.
- They’ll even create a special group/class time for these members.
- Allow them to keep their current programming.
- Charge ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
- Ask only that existing members continue to pay their memberships with their current boxes so they can keep the income stream running.
FLORIDA STRONG.
Damn, that’s a solid. CrossFit Fireball’s generosity speaks for itself and embodies the spirit of post-storm Floridians. “This is what we do in a time like this; we come together as community and help another. #helpfirst”.
Amen to that.

CHALK UP AFFILIATES
Sometimes, you hit them. As one Morning Chalk Up reader with Multiple Sclerosis shared with us the other day, “Don’t be afraid to set scary goals. The ones that you think are unachievable are the ones that make you work the hardest…Set a goal, write it down, make a plan, and show up every single day to make it happen. The picture on the left was a 10 pound plate that I used to jump on when I walked into CrossFit Jersey City this past January. I was scared. I couldn’t jump at all. Multiple Sclerosis has given me some walking and balance issues. And here I was walking into a gym where I saw all these men and women jumping on boxes, really high boxes! But I took the comparison out of the equation. They were doing their best and I was doing mine. So I set a goal to be able to jump on a box and showed up every single day to work towards that goal. The picture on the right was me today doing a workout where I completed 10 20″ box jumps! So get comfortable with being uncomfortable and crush your scary goals!”
