QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Don’t ever get in a routine of stopping every time you get tired…sooner than later you will start quitting. STOP WHEN YOU’RE DONE.” — Inky Johnson

FIGHTING MODERN-DAY SLAVERY WITH CROSSFIT.

Reppin’ for a cause.

One of the most badass parts about the CrossFit community is its drive to help others, and Reps For Rescue is doing just that.

What is it?

It’s a WOD that affiliates all over can host on their home turf. Proceeds go straight to the International Justice Mission — an organization dedicated to protecting poor from violence (like modern-day slavery and sex trafficking) in the developing world.

This year the flagship event will be held on Super Bowl Saturday (Feb. 3) to highlight the increase in sex trafficking activity around major sporting events at Timberwolf CrossFit in Minneapolis. More than 100 arrests were made in Houston, TX last year related to prostitution.

Athletes like Ben and Alec Smith, Christy Adkins, Kristi Eramo, Lindy Barber, Gary and Alea Helmick, Graham Holmberg, Julie Foucher, Anna Tunnicliffe and Nuno Costa are pitching in to support.

Tell me more.

You’re looking at a partner workout for time: 400m run, 100 wall balls 100 pull-ups, 100 hang power cleans, and 100 burpee box jumps. Whew.

So far Reps For Rescue has raised more than $40,000 since 2016, which has directly supported missions to recue men, women and children enslaved. And you can get your box involved to help support this cause.

COFFEE BREAK CONVERSATIONS

What to tell your friend who says they never have enough time for that fitness thing…

Caught red handed. Coach Ben Bergeron pointed out a startling iPhone hack that will do anything but put a smile on your face. Your iPhone has been tracking how much time you’re spending using each app and it’s horrifying. So the next time you say “don’t have time for that” do yourself a favor, open up your phone and cut one app out tomorrow and you’ll have another hour to do something productive.

What to tell your friend who’s thinking of giving up those New Year’s Resolutions already…

“The difference between those who fail and those who succeed are the people that know that slip ups do not validate giving up on a goal.” This comes from Liz Stephens writing in the Eastern Illinois University school paper. According to a recent Statistic Brain study, those resolutions you just made have only a 58.4% chance of making it past the first month, so you’ve got eight more days to take a deep breath, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.
#PREACH

What to tell your friend who wants to do some swim training but the water is too cold…

Show them this video. It’s totally LOL but seriously don’t actually do this, unless you’re trying to be funny.

THINGS TO…

WATCH: The Reebok Nano 8.0 London Launch

Dave Castro, Dan Bailey, Tia-Clair Toomey and Scott Panchik were in London for the launch of the Reebok Nano 8.0. Vlogger Jamie & the Jam captured all the action at WIT Training.

CAPTURING THE LAUNCH.

HEAR: Strengthening Your Grit Muscles

OK, so you got some talent and you’ve got some natural strength. How hard you decide to work has nothing to do with either of those things. That’s the topic of discussion on this week’s episode of Chasing Excellence with Ben Bergeron.

HOW HARD CAN YOU WORK?

EAT: Ginger Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with Coconut Cauliflower Rice

This protein-packed dish has bright colors, delicious flavors, and is perfect for meal-prep.

GET COOKIN.

“Letter to My Younger Self” by Kenzie Riley

Dear Fifteen-Year-Old Kenzie,

Get out of the water.

Press pause on the endless laps of 400s for a second. We both know you can’t hear Coach underneath the water, and right now you need to listen to my voice.

It’s all coming for you, and you have no idea what you’re in for.

There they are. Jenny, Sadie, Samantha, Rachel, and Court. The “skinny” girls, and all the boys like them.

I know what you’re about to do, and I wish you wouldn’t. I want to reach back into the past and let you see what I see right now: this driven, talented, beautiful, and STRONG girl with all the passion and strength in the world, but time doesn’t work that way.
