IN 2 MINUTES…

Yesterday was the 241st birthday of the U.S. Army, and in honor of that Russell Berger came up with “1775.” Here’s a look at the new 600,000 sq foot Rogue facility from above. Maddy Myers says “May the next generation of girls believe that beauty is found not in what the society or media tells them, but in their character, confidence, and strength.” And we thought we’d seen it all from Christmas Abbott, but no. Krystal Cantu got an ultrasound of her baby-to-be. Pat Sherwood, where’s our invite? We’ll bring the almond milk mint chocolate chip ice cream to pair! Go shopping at Whole Foods with Austin Malleolo.

Finding her “fit” in “fitness” – “A thin, slender figure is coveted by nearly every young woman. Laura Gonzalez Marin wasn’t the exception when she committed to extreme dieting and exercising to attain society’s idealized body image…After fully dedicating to CrossFit three years later, she recovered her physical and emotional health, and learned that achieving a thin physique is not the purpose of exercising and eating healthy.”

CrossFitting and incarcerated – “(My name is Kevin) I started CrossFit in prison. I’m currently incarcerated in the Michigan Department of Corrections…In the summer 2014 my sister sent me a few books. I got Inside the Box a memoir by TJ Murphy, Cross Training WOD bible, and a Training Journal. I tried a few WODs, then after reading Inside the Box me and another guy decided to try FRAN. I don’t know what my time was, it was long though and I did nothing right…By November people just starred. The guy I worked out with had lost 40 pounds and is Clean Jerking 175 pounds. I used to think I wasn’t good enough for anything or anyone, I hated myself. Now I know theres so much more to me and everything I have to offer…From all this I became friends with some good people in a place I thought there was none, and I learned how important it is to have good people in my life. I had to change my life, CrossFit helped me stay on the path to becoming the person I was meant to be.”

It started when she was 16 – “I was introduced to CrossFit, and that really then changed my body image issues, and helped me get my eating back under control, and then it just skyrocketed. I went from being like, can’t do school, can’t do anything, to I can work, I can train, I can go back to school…It’s mind boggling to see where I’ve come from, and just how CrossFit has…truly it has allowed me to now get off of my medication…but the biggest effect for me really…now I have a normal relationship with food again. I can eat food without being too anxious. And that for me is the best part of it, really.”
