QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.” — Samuel Beckett

How to partner WOD with your pup- safely.

The dog days of summer.

CrossFitters and their dogs— a match made in heaven. Who doesn’t love binging on the Wags & Weights IG feed, amiright?

Whether you like to bring your pooch to the box or let them join you on your run, it’s getting hot outside and we have to remember to keep our furry friends safe and cool.

Pup Summer Safety 101

First of all, help them ease into it. They probably aren’t getting as much exercise during the winter, especially if you live in an area with harsh temperatures during the cold seasons. Limit their time in the scorching heat, and keep them nice and hydrated. Maybe even consider some pet-friendly sunscreen (did you know dogs can actually get sunburned, too?).

Just use common sense before exposing them to extreme temps and maybe share a yummy bone broth popsicle with them post-WOD to help them chill— and fight inflammation, too.

Man’s BFF.

Our four legged buddies love getting in a workout and hanging out at the gym, but mostly they just love hanging out with us. Gotta watch their backs.

We’re not crying, you’re crying.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL.

Regionals Reflections.

Christian Lucero — “The beautiful thing about sport is that it is very black and white, the results don’t lie. Does coming up short of my goal hurt? Of course, it hurts a lot. That’s good though if it didn’t hurt I would not belong on the competition floor. You need that sick feeling in your gut to make you the best and remind you day after day what needs to be done. The only thing that changes walking away from the weekend is that I will not be in Wisconsin in August. Other than that the goal remains the same, to be the best, the train doesn’t stop here. No brakes.”

Amanda Barnhart — “I’m not even sure how to formulate the right words to describe this weekend but it truly was a dream come true. HUGE thank you to all fans; the crowd in Nashville was seriously incredible! Thank you so much everyone for cheering me along all season…and last but most definitely not least thank you to the husband Wes for literally working like an insane man to support us while I spent so much time training. He truly never complained and is the hardest working man I know.”

Jason Carroll — “I went out there and gave ’em hell with a smile on my face and had a shit ton of fun. Hope I didn’t let any of you down. Thank you for all the yells, screams, cheers, support, and love. Lets keep it going.”

— Sevan: “Any regrets with the programming?”

— Dave: “Mostly”

Deep Dive: CrossFit HQ looks into the 11-year long legacy of CrossFit’s longest running athlete, Becca Voigt…“Think about it: Voigt started in 2008, when the sport was new and the Games featured just four events over two days. No handstand walks, no muscle-ups, no cycling, no swimming. As the sport evolved to include more movements, more events, more volume and athletes from around the world, Voigt changed, too. By 2011—with a swimming test among nine others in a three-day competition—Voigt was on the podium, showing she had acquired all the fitness required to stand above the best athletes on the
planet.

“Hayley Murillo: ‘Miss you Mama'” by Jessica Danger, Morning Chalk Up

Individual competitor Hayley Murillo posted on her Instagram that she was dedicating Day 3 to her mother.

“I sure hope heaven looks like this. Miss you Mama. Thank you CrossFit Games for always bringing me back to my Mom’s old stomping grounds.”

In the post, Murillo holds up a photograph of her mother, and “some of her hundreds of ribbons” with a hashtag #day3isforyou. The framed photo, Murillo’s personal favorite of her mother, shows her standing with her two favorite horses, Lucky and Misty, at the same Del Mar stables where Murillo has been competing at the West Regional.
