East Woodbridge Disqualified Due to Failed Drug Test.
|
What happened?
Laura Hosier, who declined her individual invitation to compete as a member of East Woodbridge, announced on Instagram that she has tested positive for higenamine. CrossFit HQ emailed her Monday to break the news that she and her teammates would not be going to Madison after all.
No way.
Way, and she owned up to the mistake right away. Hosier had taken a preworkout by Allmax called “Impact Igniter” that contained the banned substance. Purchased at a local shop she drank it without reading the ingredients and it cost her, and her team a spot at the CrossFit Games.
What happens now?
The whole team is now disqualified. No word yet on who will take the spot, but we reached out to sixth placed CrossFit Queens but didn’t heard back before publication. Also, no word yet whether Hosier also received a multi-year ban that usually accompanies positive drug test.
One last thing to note. This announcement comes a full month after the initial drug test which took place on Sunday, May 20, immediately following Event 6. This means that any failed tests for Regionals week 3 won’t likely come until early July, decreasing the liklihood any athlete or team is called up to fill that sp.

Her Child Watched Her Held at Gunpoint.
|
The story.
It can sometimes be tough to get to CrossFit, let alone with your kid in tow. It’s even more impressive when you take your child with you to CrossFit at 6 AM. Imagine then, getting held up at gunpoint while your three-year-old watches from the car.
Just before 6 AM on Wednesday morning, a member of Railside CrossFit in Sherman, TX had just parked in the main lot for the early morning class. While walking around her car to get her gear and her three-year-old child from the back seat, she was caught off guard by a man wearing all black. He wore a mask and he had a gun.
Oh my god.
Yep. The man held her at gunpoint, grabbed her purse, then fled on foot. No one was injured, and mother and child are fine, but Railside CrossFit owner Kim Dunlap was shocked.
“When he held her at gunpoint, it was shocking because we’ve been here for five years and haven’t had a problem yet.”
In conclusion.
CrossFit gyms are places where people can feel safe and feel stronger. The Morning Chalk Up Team hopes that Railside CrossFit and all their athletes can feel that again soon.

What to tell your mom, who finally listened to you for once and started Whole30 and hates you right now…
It will get better, Mom, pinky promise. But right now might not be the best time to try new things, like CrossFit or MMA or bear hunting or rugby or ultra marathons out in the wilderness. But here’s a list of things you can do that might help make you feel a bit better.

WATCH: Jordan’s Journey
When Jordan Hux, at only 22, was diagnosed with breast cancer her community rallied hard for her. Long Road CrossFit in Urbana, OH showed her that it is indeed a long road, but not one she needs to travel alone.

After he bulged a disc while training, Olympic skier Bryce Bennett needed a new way to train. When he walked into Park City CrossFit in Utah and was “absolutely smashed by a soccer mom,” he knew it would be CrossFit.

CHALK UP IN 2 MINUTES (a highlight reel around social media of CrossFit pros and average joes)
Dave Castro drops the first hint for the 2018 CrossFit Games • Gerry, 62 and with a shoulder injury, still gets after it with a rope climb at Gas City CrossFit • Brent Fikowski gets Games ready and works on his sprints with a little help from his coach and a bungee cord • Lindsey Valenzuela of Autumo CrossFit is this close to a 205 pound snatch PR for her Granite Games qualifier • Carleen Mathews encounters an adorable child-sized obstacle during her own Granite Games qualifier at CrossFit St. Helens • Chuckie Welch hits a 237 pound snatch off the blocks at Black Iron Gym • Jason Carroll and his legs survive a 405 pound front squat double at CrossFit Reality.
…and this prickly partner is motivation to keep running longer!
Alexis Johnson Tried to Golf but Instead She Broke Instagram — She just went out to try her hand at golf and a (perfectly placed) Happy Gilmore reference. But then, as so often happens on the Internet, someone piped up to tell her precisely 9,017 things she was doing wrong. Namely, calling herself an athlete. The obviously #1 Fan wrote, “Not to be rude, but you are NOT an athlete. You lift weights and exercise, that doesn’t make you an athlete. It means you work out. You don’t play any sports. Change your bio.” Johnson and dozens of others chimed in, letting the commenter know “You’re gonna die
clown!” The mistaken commenter eventually made his profile public and stopped responding. For the record, Alexis Johnson is a phenomenal athlete. Full stop.
CrossFit and Body Acceptance — Courtney, aka The Petite Athleat, on how CrossFit helped her learn to love her body. “I’m so happy CrossFit is around for young women now, so they don’t have to compare themselves to Victoria Secret models anymore, but instead women like Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Stacie Tovar, and Annie Thorisdottir. The story is changing for women. I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”
Emily Abbott Wants to Talk About Your Undies– The CrossFit Journal has an article coming out soon about underwear and how to manage wearing (or not, heyyyyy!) them during sweaty ass workouts. In the meantime, Emily Abbott wants to hear all about your underwear and how you avoid mid-WOD wedgies. Speak up! The world wants to know.
Be Epic in San Diego — Epic Series, known for their super fun obstacle course races, is looking for some new friends. They want to keep it classy in San Diego and are looking to hear from you. Tell them what you’d like to do and where in San Diego.

“Training Starts Today,” by Alexis Johnson Morning Chalk Up
It’s midnight.
My body’s sore. I’m exhausted.
But I can’t sleep.
It’d be easy to start playing the blame game. I should’ve ran more. The elevation killed me. These girls were bigger and could move the weight better.
But I’m the one to blame. Going into day 3, I had one shot to get back into a qualifying spot. I fought like hell, left it all out on the floor, but it wasn’t enough…And now I’m more determined than ever.
I’ll be ready when I step out on that floor again next year.
And nobody will ever doubt me going into day three again.
Training starts today.
