How I’m Doing Fitness on Vacation

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Out of Office but Not Out of the Gym

For those of you who have been following along in the newsletter, I finished my weight cut with the RP Diet App. By the time you read this, I will be on vacation, traveling through Mexico with my mother, celebrating her 65th birthday.

I will count zero macros.

I will not pack my travel scale.

I will enjoy adult beverages with her by the pool and I will eat dessert.

I will do all the sightseeing and dancing and eat all the regional food.

I will also get in the gym every chance I get, dropping into CrossFit boxes in each city we visit, meeting other CrossFitters out in the world. It’s one of my favorite parts of this gig.

And I will also be just fine when I get home and get right back on track. Because one of the beautiful things about incorporating fitness into your life is that it shores up all the other aspects of your life. I am fit enough to go on ATV rides and ziplines with my mom. My diet is fine-tuned enough that I can enjoy regional favorites for a week and not feel terrible or ashamed. And my level of fitness is such that I can drop into a box anywhere and know that I will be safe and able to complete a WOD.

I’m excited to get out there and use my fitness, even on vacation. I hope you guys get to use it this week, too, in whatever way best serves you.
