Sad News — A reader emailed us some sad news about a little boy who lost his fight with Leukemia last week. Five-year-old Carson Davis was a member of CrossFit QFE’s CrossFit Kids program in Lumberton, NC who regularly attended. CrossFit QFE wrote this in memory of Carson: “Cars, we’ll look after mom, Jackson and Austin. You keep watch from above!” This page was setup to help support the family.
Happy News — Katie Shellhorse got engaged Friday at CrossFit Allatoona in Dallas, GA. While warming up with lunges, Rocco approached and got down on one knee as if to lunge and pulled out a ring. We got ahold of some video footage of this super cute CrossFit proposal.

“An Update on Zach Miller” by Jesse Friedl

On August 4, 2011, Zach Miller, founder of CrossFit Panther and coach at CrossFit Pittsburgh, was in a terrible car accident and went into a coma. That same year, CrossFit released a short video on Zach and his influence on the surrounding athletic community.

We were curious to know if there was any kind of update on Zach, so we chatted with Zach’s friend and owner of CrossFit Pittsburgh Mike Pietragallo and a close family member.

After three months in a coma, Zach finally woke up. He spent some time at a facility in Pittsburgh, before he moved to Allentown, PA to be closer to his father. His condition has thankfully not worsened – he is responsive to external stimuli. Though he is not talking yet, the prognosis is optimistic. There is a new type of therapy called HBOT (HyperBaric Oxygen Therapy), which seems to hold a lot of potential.

In this article, I’m going to talk about how insurers can protect you, why some won’t, and how you can protect yourself against litigation.

It’s always been odd to me that most people do not like to talk about insurance in general—any kind of insurance. People know they have to have insurance, but they usually have no idea what they’re paying for, what they need, how they can save money, or even what their current policy covers and doesn’t cover (exclusions). Most people just want to know three things:
