Loehner, Herrera Receive Drug Sanctions

Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up. Today’s edition is fueled by FNX.

Since starting FNX, Adrian Conway has had two children (well his wife did, but you get it) trained less, slept less, and been busier than ever. Yet he is PR’ing lifts and still as lean as he’s ever been. How? Heavy weights and Revive, the natural testosterone booster FNX designed in 2017.

Because Father’s Day is close, we’re giving you the chance to fight the “Dadbod” from the inside out. With code “BOGOREVIVE” you can buy one and get one FREE! Order within the next 24 hours, supplies will go fast!

CROSSFIT GAMES NEWS.

Loehner, Herrera Receive Drug Sanctions. MisFits Finally Gets MACC Invite.

CrossFit Games officials announced two drug sanctions today for Chantelle Loehner and Lauren Herrera, who were in breach of the drug policy stemming from in-competition tests following the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge (MACC).

That’s a wrap: Loehner’s breach of CrossFit’s drug policy has been known for more than a month after she announced it on Instagram. The cause for the delay in finalizing was due to the back and forth of the appeals process and testing of Loehner’s B sample. She was popped for anabolic steroid Oral Turinabol.

  • Loehner will receive a four-year ban effective April 14, 2019.
  • She also earned an individual spot at the Games through the Open. Her score will also be invalidated.

What happens now: Invictus X’s win at MACC is invalidated and their invite rescinded. Team MisFit is now the official winner.

Team MisFit: Roy Gamboa, Alexis Johnson, Jennifer Smith, and Travis Williams (C).

They will have seven days after receiving their invitation to finalize the roster which includes one male and female alternate.

Check your inbox: The Open leaderboard will now be finalized for women. Via the CrossFit Games Twitter: “the Open Leaderboard will soon be finalized and all pending female invitations will be sent to Open qualifiers and Sanctionals Invitees.”

This will include the backfilling process for Sanctionals which has now grown very, very deep.

QUICK UPDATE.

Invitees and Backfilling Updates

The Loehner drug case was holding up a number of pending invites, many of which were already understood to be true but now that it’s concluded, CrossFit is giving the final nod.

Here’s what happened: MACC, Granite Games and the female Open invites are now confirmed.

  • Team MisFit will now get the Games invite from MACC.
  • Thuri Helgadottir and Cheryl Nasso are official in via the Open top 20.
  • Invictus X will get the invite from Granite Games.

Backfilling: Here’s the list of which female athletes will get invites from Sanctionals.

Our take: We think there will still be at least one shift on this list, namely that Mia Akerlund will decline her invite to compete on Team Barbells Prepared.

— “Perspective…Although I finished 10th at The Granite Games last week and missed qualifying for the games this year, I left knowing that I took the chance and gave it my all. I’m not frustrated with my effort, just the result, and that frustration is pointless. I have so many positive takeaways from these last few weeks and am thankful already for the defeat/learning experience.  You either win or you grow… and I guess it’s growing season!! Congrats to all the other athletes this year, it was fun throwing down with you all!”

After leaving a lift out there in the snatches, I hit this lift (137kg/301lb) for a PR C&J and total and became the lightest American female to ever clean and jerk 300 pounds. I’m so incredibly grateful to be here with a supportive staff and some kickass teammates. I am the 2019 71kg Junior World Champion, and all the glory goes to God. Happy, but never satisfied. We will be going back to work for our next trip in Cuba in a few short weeks. I’m always proud to rep the red, white, and
blue-and we’re going to be doing a lot of it this year.”

“The Ergon Training System Wants You to Love the Erg Machines,” by Jessica Danger, Morning Chalk Up

Everyone has that one thing in the box they hate. For a lot of us, that’s an erg machine. You hop on, go full ham for thirty seconds, and congratulations…you completed two calories and you’ve redlined.

Green Mountain CrossFit owner Nick Petterssen teamed up with Jay Ericson for a solution. Ergon Training is a system dedicated to athlete success with the bike, row and ski.

“The Ergon Training System delivers a goal-based workout each and every time, priming our athletes to chase, catch and conquer. We evaluate each user with a single workout, and then use the power of decades of exercise science research to convert those workout results into valuable information that hides behind the scenes within the Ergon app.”

Yep, the app does the mental work for you so all you have to do is hold on. “Once an athlete chooses their workout for the day, Ergon crunches their past performance numbers and offers very specific pacing targets,” reads their Kickstarter.

But it’s not just the pacing. There’s also loads on there about the machines and proper technique and form. And, the app is an extension of the monitor on every Concept2, called a PM5.

This allows you to program workouts into the machine and then save the results of those workouts to memory.

The Kickstarter campaign is running for about one more week. The company is hoping to launch the app in the fall.
