PAINT BY CROSSFIT.
|
Background.
If you’ve ever done Murph and looked down to see a puddle of sweat piling up all around, you know that fitness can get a little messy. Imagine for a second those drops were paint instead of sweat and the floor was a canvas. What would it look like when you were all done with the WOD?
Hmmm good question.
Enter Kent Youngstrom, who experimented with that concept last year creating some wonderfully expressive, CrossFit-inspired artwork. NOBULL noticed and said “we like” and invited Kent over for a little collab session with Kristi Eramo, Sam Dancer, Brooke Ence, Brooke Wells, Alex Anderson and Jared Stevens.
So what happened?
Things got messy. As in paintball party, green, purple, red, yellow and orange all over their hair, clothes and skin kinda messy.
Each athlete picked a few of their favorite CrossFit movements (think burpees, kettlebell swings, power cleans, etc.), applied paint to a body part or piece of equipment and started to move, creating a unique design out of their workout. Kent and NOBULL took those canvases and created six uniquely designed NOBULL trainers, one for each athlete.
That’s legit. How do I snag one?
A few of the athletes are heading out to London, England to WIT Fitness for a sold out launch party and Q&A tomorrow at 4:45 PM Pacific, which you can watch live.
All six trainers go on sale tonight at 9:00 PM Pacific/5:00 AM GMT for pre-order, and here’s where you can buy them if you’re in the U.S. and if you’re in the EU. Also available to buy will be a replica print of each athlete’s canvas just in case your wall is feeling
lonely.
If you’re feeling particularly impatient you can checkout all the designs and watch the complete video behind these limited edition sneaks.

DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT

EXCLUSIVE — We got the exclusive drop on Working Against Gravity’s new four-part docu-series following Justin Holte, an everyday CrossFitter working to balance a demanding job, time with his family, CrossFit and staying on top of his nutrition. We’ll be releasing one each day, and here’s Episode 1:
“I’m a father now. I wanna be around when he gets older. In a lifestyle and life that I currently lead that i have very little free time, carving out time for nutrition is exceedingly difficult,” Holte said. “I think at one point I was working 120 hours a week. For me, this is the long game. I’m looking at this nutrition program as a game of chess rather than checkers.”

Julie Foucher, a former gymnast, reacts to the Larry Nassar hearing…“The biggest message that has stuck with me from listening to these brave women’s stories has been…there is nothing more important than doing what is right even when it’s inconvenient, or scary, or brings undesirable consequences. The truth always comes out, and doing what is right is always more important than doing what is easy or taking the path of least resistance. Because of many who DID do the right thing, even when it seemed difficult or hopeless, this army of sister survivors now has an incredibly powerful voice, and because of them we will witness change that extends far beyond the gymnastics community…I have no doubt that these women will lead the charge in stripping USA Gymnastics down to it’s core and rebuilding it from the ground
up over the coming months and years. Thank you, to all of you, for speaking up and sharing your stories and your pain with the world – you are true superheroes.”

“15 Years of CrossFit” by Russ Greene, CrossFit Journal
After 15 years of CrossFit training, I have finally completed Fran in less than three minutes.
This is a dubious distinction. I suspect I have taken longer to reach a sub-three Fran than anyone else—ever.
So why should anyone listen to what I have to say about a decade and a half of CrossFit training?
To learn from my errors, of course.
