My hands were sweaty with anticipation. I hadn’t even warmed up for my workout, but I could feel the perspiration building on the lower portion of my back. My shirt was sticking to it like I had just completed some grueling cardio session, but the truth was I had even touched the bar or moved around for any extended amount of time.
It was all nerves. This was the last workout I had to complete for the 2017 CrossFit Open — the five week predetermined workout regime that you compete with other athletes across the globe. It was something I had told myself I’d do the previous year. A goal I had set. No matter how far I had gotten in my aim to get fitter, I said last year at this time when the Open wrapped up, “I’m going to do this.”
