DOES BEING PALEO GET YOUR MORE ACTION ON TINDER?
|
The story.
We all love food, so it’s no surprise that it’s a great topic of conversation to break the ice after you’ve both swiped right.
But just how much of a difference can food details in your bio make?
The experiment.
Billie Schwab, a 23-year-old Sydney reporter with The Daily Mail, used Tinder for a week — each day she changed her bio to assign herself a different dietary requirement: vegan, vegetarian, paleo, sugar-free, and our favorite, dumpster diver. So glamorous.
So what happened?
Billie sat back to watch the real life comedy show unfold. Some guys used her bio info as a clever ice breaker. Some inevitably got a little inappropriate, but all in all the experiment was a success.
The answer is yes, being paleo does get you more action on Tinder, by about 10 more responses per day.
Because what guy doesn’t love a girl who can throw down some ribs and a good steak?

Reebok Nano 8.0 — The new shoe officially drops January 18th, but you can pickup a few custom designed pairs today only. “It’s been great to see how the Nano has evolved and improved and changed,” Dave Castro said. “If you had asked me eight years ago after the first one where I saw the shoe going, I would’ve thought just more of the same. But it hasn’t been more of the same. Each one has been different, yet still meets all the needs of the CrossFit athlete and participant. It’s impressive.”
Jenny LaBaw on life’s transitions…“I think we too often put ourselves in a box of what we have done or what we think we should do or be because of what society says or what our past has created for us. We get stuck in something that has fulfilled us when we needed it, but stay because we don’t know where else to go or are scared of what we may find.”

“Letter to My Younger Self” by Carleen Mathews
Dear Thirteen-Year-Old Carleen,
There’s a lot you do not know. But here are few things I want you to understand now.
You’re just starting high school, a huge transition, and you want to be popular. Instead, try not to be so interested in what boys think about you, and don’t put so much effort into caring whether or not people like you. Worry instead about being liked for who you are, not just for your looks. Right now, it will always be more comfortable to be someone you think others want you to be but never lose sight of who you are and what you stand for. This will be tough, but I know you can do it.
The most important things in life, the things you will actually remember, are the little things. All those nights Dad stayed out late playing softball with you. All those weekends he traveled to your games. They seem like nothing now; you even get a little irritated with him sometimes.
One day, walking out to practice with him playing catcher you’ll tell him you don’t want to practice today. And he’ll say to you, “The days that you don’t want to do it are the days you will get the most of it.” Years later, when he is gone, and you’ve become a competitive athlete in an entirely different sport, you’ll hear him in your head every time you think about cherry picking a workout or not giving 100% effort. CHALK UP TIPS
|
Brought to You By Jenny LaBaw — Did you know that connective tissue takes four-times as long to develop as muscle tissue? So while you’re up on the bar, hammering away doing pull-ups like a fish out of water on your third week of CrossFit, you might be taking things a little too fast. Jenny uses this rule with her athletes: if you can’t do five strict pull-ups (three for women) then you can’t start kipping.
