ATHLETES REFLECT ON REGIONALS

Most athletes go into Regionals knowing their chances of making the Games are slim to none, while others are on the bubble. Regardless, it’s three days of grueling mental and physical exercise that brings some unpredictable results to your body. Here are the reflections of a few athletes we noticed yesterday.Sarah Loogman: “I woke up Saturday feeling pretty awful and unmotivated…I actually did worse than I did in training. It took all of my composure to make it back across the floor after the event before collapsing in the back.”Lisa Warren: “There has been many times I’ve asked “Why do I keep doing this to myself?”and I’m still not sure if I have a good answer. But I do know that conquering a fear or a challenge can be extremely rewarding…”Marcus Filly: “[W]e received news that my grandfather had died. Her dad, Dr. Dudley Robnett, had passed away at the age of 93. I was informed of his death moments before event 5…His body didn’t allow him to do all the things he loved. Movement is a gift and I honor him and myself every day I get to play this sport.”Alyssa Ritchey: “I am fighter. I will always push harder. I will show the world my confidence and drive. You will never see me give up because that is not who I am. I am a women that can do anything because I believe in myself more than anyone.”
