QUOTE OF THE DAY
|
“There are times when life feels like a stress, a struggle and a constant battle. It’s painful. It’s not fair. And shit happens that is unexplainable. What we can control is our heart, our thoughts and our breathing. Calm your mind, relax your heart. And breathe.” — Lewis Howes

Katrin Davidsdottir on the New Year...”I talk a lot about giving full effort. Working as hard as I can and as long as I have no regrets I will be happy with the outcome. I still believe in that and I know that I can not control an outcome. But I want to win. We really did work so hard this year and I can walk away with no regrets but it took me some time to come to terms with the fact that I wasn’t happy with how the Games played out this year…This moment showed me how much I wanted this and how hard I am willing to work for it. Oh my goshhhhh I am so excited for this year. I found my FIRE.”

What to tell your friend who’s thinking now’s a good time for a detox…

What to tell your friend who’s dusting off their dumbells…
You’re probably going to need em, especially since Dave Castro basically just told the entire world they’ll be using them in about six weeks. And if you’re going to dedicate the extra time you might as well learn to do bicep curls correctly.

“Letter to My Younger Self” by Camille Egdorf
Dear 10-year-old Camille,
From the very beginning, you’ve been different from the other girls – the ones who wear pretty dresses and flavored lip gloss. You’re an only child in a family that makes a living in the great outdoors, and as a result, you would rather wear jeans and a t-shirt any day. With short blonde hair, mud-stained pants and a razor scooter, you’ve always had more fun playing football and other sports with the boys.
You relate to them better because you can talk fishing and hunting when the girls only talk about makeup and going shopping. And because you are different, you are picked on and have been cast out by nearly every girl at school.
You’ll continue to struggle with bullies for the next few years, so you need to grit your teeth and not let the name calling make you feel any less of yourself. You’re a smart, charismatic, and vibrant kid who can do anything you put your mind to. It sucks, and you often feel very alone, but this is a time that will begin paving the way for you to grow into the strong and independent woman you’ll become.
