Austin Colbert took a break from CrossFit for 22 months but he decided to ask his boss to bring him to Aspen CrossFit. “After 22 months away, it wasn’t the strenuous workouts or the goal-setting mindset that CrossFit creates that drew me back. It was the people and the feeling of being bonded to others through literal blood, sweat and tears. That’s what I missed most about training with SouthWind CrossFit in Kansas — my CrossFit family.”

With the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games Open now upon us, the next five weeks are sure to be filled with the inevitable leaderboard chatter and questions about what the Open results predict for the Regional competitions ahead.

One of the questions we see resurface each year—who are the up-and-comers in The Sport of Fitness?

Two names you can expect to hear about are sisters Brittany and Allison Weiss. Although they’ve been athletes for a few years, the 18- and 21-year old North Carolina natives are quick to attest that they’re just getting started.

“This Husband Tried to Mimic His Pregnant Wife’s CrossFit Experience” by SELF

When Blake Milchuck hit the CrossFit gym this weekend, he tried something a little different. Blake and his wife, Kristin, are expecting a baby, and Blake was impressed that his wife could still break a sweat like the best of them—even 37 weeks pregnant. Blake wanted to see what that’s like, so he strapped a 14-pound medicine ball to his chest to find out. The result: a video of Blake hilariously suffering through his typical workout with a “baby” along for the ride. Thankfully, CrossFit Krypton in Chesapeake, Virginia, shared the clip with the world.

In the video, Blake starts with some push-ups, and it’s clear he’s struggling. He holds tight to the medicine ball while he gingerly leaps over a push-up bar. A person off-camera asks him how he’s feeling, and he responds, “It does not feel good.” Meanwhile, in the background, (a very pregnant) Kristin can be seen working out on a rowing machine, making it look easy.
