Something Miraculous

Good morning and welcome to the Morning Chalk Up. Today’s edition was chalked up while nursing our body back to health after a 17.2 redo.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Dear Pull-Up Bar,

I saw you today. For the first time ever we met eye to eye and for a few fleeting seconds I thought I could pull myself higher then you. But no matter how hard I tried I failed. However, I find solace in knowing that many of my friends and companions surpassed you; some with just their chin up while others with their chest held high and many for the first time today.

I know things now that I didn’t know before. You are not as elusive as you pretend to be.  You are not tall as you think you are. Anyone who desires you, can have you. So know this, pull up bar, the next time we meet I will rise higher than you because your time is up. I see you and I know you. I SHALL conquer you too.” — Kimberly Leja Martinez, Morning Chalk Up Reader

17.2

The Leaderboard. Jamie Hagiya literally went to failure on toes-to-bar and fell off. Watch Thuri Helgadottir finish up her final reps of 17.2. Noah Ohlsen completed 223 reps on 17.2. Brittany Weiss’ final reps of her 216 total. Rich Froning and Dan Bailey redid 17.2 last night.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU HIT THE BOX

There’s still time to sign up to volunteer at Regionals. Despite having lung disease and being tethered to breathing tubes, Karen Skålvoll came all the way from Norway to compete in the Disabled Strongman Competition. Doughnuts and Deadlifts is missing their booth and trying to find it. Andrea Ager gets all dressed up. Jerry Pritchett set a new world record by deadlifting 1031 pounds.

WHAT TO SHOW YOUR FRIEND WHO’S UPSET THEY DIDN’T GET A BAR MUSCLE-UP IN 17.2…Even Dmitry Klokov struggles with bar muscle-ups.

AFFILIATES THAT LOVE

Introducing the Rausch Family of Levittown, PA. The entire family are members of Miraculous CrossFit. Their 12-year-old daughter Madison was diagnosed with a very rare condition which caused tumors to develop in her leg. Her mom, who works as an assistant principal, took a leave of absence to take care of her daughter. This is when her CrossFit Family stepped in and threw them a surprise competition fundraiser. More than 150 people showed up and generously donated nearly $6000 to help the Rausch family.

A member of Miraculous shared with us: “We arranged for the family to arrive about halfway through the event. What an amazing thing to walk into. The Family dealing with the struggles of this difficult procedure. Having to give care to a very active 12-year-old girl who is now partially bedridden with external fixators on her ankle was extremely difficult for the entire family. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.”
