QUOTE OF THE DAY
“If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I’d trip her. Oh, I’d pick her up and brush her off and say, ‘Sorry, Mom,’ but nobody beats me.” – Leo Durocher

Building the Games — The CrossFit Games wouldn’t be the same without the kind of contraptions that Rogue works with CrossFit to develop. On the main display this year were the worm, Zeus and Athena rigs, the weighted jump rope, and the three-person deadlift bar. So how far out does the planning start for these new contraptions? At the athlete dinner before the start of the Games, Dave Castro said that some of these things are years in the making. Rogue put together a series of videos showcasing the new equipment and highlighted the making of a few of them here – Murph is our favorite.

Merging Weightlifting and Powerlifting — Hayden Bowe didn’t intend to be a powerlifter. But when he tore his patellar tendon last year, Bowe, a national-level weightlifter, had a slow recovery and wasn’t able to snatch or clean and jerk for months…Bowe’s friend convinced him to try a powerlifting competition. “When I went back to weightlifting…I immediately hit PRs in snatch and clean and jerk, which were lifts I hadn’t done in six months.” And the Hybrid Performance Method was officially born.
