QUOTE OF THE DAY
“There is no substitute for strength, and no excuse for the lack of it.” — Unknown, via Westside Barbell
TIME TO SHOW MY “CRUISE MOVES.”
WHAT’S THAT?
You won’t be sorry you asked. “Cruise moves” are what 85-year-old Betty True calls her dance moves, which she describes as “a bunch of bumping and grinding and that’s all [Betty] knows how to do.”
WHO’S BETTY TRUE?
Betty True is the LA Dodgers’ so called “Rally Granny” who went viral after dancing and flashing a crowd of Dodgers fans during a July 8 game against the KC Royals. “I figured well I’ll just really give them a treat and just flash ’em,” True said.
WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS?
One word: LIFE, and True is living it with all she has.
From the woman who quips “I tell everybody that I supplement my Social Security with pole dancing,” True’s love story is both heartfelt and inspiring. Starting each day with her husband drinking a cocktail, a kiss and a toast to squeeze every ounce out of life, they did just that until Mark died at 83. But True kept on living, marching to the beat of her own drum, and leaving a little joy along the way.
Oh hey, it’s Thursday. Stop your whining. Grab a cocktail, cheers a friend, kiss a loved one and go out and do something. That’s what Betty True would be do.

WE’LL BRING LIMES.
CHALK UP AFFILIATES
One Whitehouse, TX grandmother walked into Tyler CrossFit four years ago, then she dragged her bestie in too. Now both ladies are working out and challenging the notion that old means you’re out. “Get up and move. Doesn’t matter if you just walk down the block. You have to start somewhere,” one of the ladies told a local news station. Hard to imagine our grandma saying that out loud but we’d be darn proud if she did!
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF COPS…
Diet, nutrition and fitness. Just so happens that a July report by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund revealed that six police officers died from cardiac events on the job in 2017 alone. And back in 2012, another study examined the prominence of cardiovascular disease in law enforcement. Both studies concluded that things aren’t looking so hot for LEO (Law Enforcement Officers). But the culture in LEO is slowly changing and people are noticing the on-the-job benefits. One police department even put on a 120 mile relay race from their home base to the city of Las Vegas to promote more health and fitness outside of work. Instead of it just being one or two officers, whole groups are joining in for challenges, CrossFit, and fitness exercises, which benefits the whole community.
Team Red White & Blue…TrueCore CrossFit in Annapolis, MD opens their doors once a month for the Annapolis Chapter of Team RWB — a 501c3 that exists to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. For the August meet-up, literally dozens of athlete and vets got together to hangout and do some fitness, which is pretty cool.
