The Invention of the Burpee

Good morning. It’s Thursday, June 23, and this is your Morning Chalk Up. Did we miss something? Send us a tip at [email protected].

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“There are no such thing as setbacks. All those things you think you need to overcome are just opportunities for you to get stronger, for you to get better. It’s all part of the process.” – Ben Bergeron, CrossFit coach

THE COMPETITION FLOOR

26 days until the 2016 CrossFit Games.

Here’s CrossFit HQ’s official CrossFit Games Twitter list.

GAMES PREP

Michele Letendre shares her favorite memory over her years competing at the CrossFit Games. Annie Thorisdottir has arrived in LA for Games prep. Jacob Heppner programs in some kind of Helen on steroids WOD that starts off with a 1200m run, 63 KB swings and 36 pull ups. If he really wanted to make it Games worthy though, it probably would have progressed from pull ups to chest to bar to bar muscle-ups #JustSaying. Michele Letendre knows you can never program too many legless rope climbs. Looks like Ben Smith dropped in to do a WOD with Rich Froning. Everything looks cooler in slow motion, just ask Camille Leblanc-Bazinet as she does some heavy-ish clean and jerks. Kristin Holte is moving this prowler slower than a hangover on Monday. Every Icelander going to the CrossFit Games will have this announcer in the back of their heads during every event at Carson, CA.

GRANITE GAMES

Week 3 workout released tonight at 7PM Central.

Well they’re actually designed by two former Reebok employees. Never complain about jump roping again otherwise you have to use this instead.

New details emerge in the tragic Amanda Straus murder case — excerpts of the 911 call were released today. When authorities arrived to the Steele Creek apartment complex, they found Strous’ burned body. Benner quickly emerged as suspect after neighbors say they saw him standing in the doorway of her smoke filled apartment. They say he ran off before police arrived.”
