IN 2 MINUTES — By the end of implementing its new CrossFit program district-wide, Clark County School District will include approximately 320,000 students in 327 schools. Miss the Granite Games? FloElite has archived all the events so you can still watch. A Cleveland reporter journaling his journey through starting CrossFit says “I think I’m getting hooked.” Amanda Gabriel,a writer for the Washington College student newspaper, writes:CrossFit makes me feel invincible, and the community of people who push themselves to the same level every day is inspiring and motivating. I can honestly say that it has also given me a more positive outlook on life as well because one of the mottos of CrossFit is to never say ‘I can’t,’ but only ‘I can.'”

A Car for a Friend — The athletes at Ragin CrossFit in Lafayette, LA banded together to buy a car for Jake Duhon, a member of Ragin CrossFit suffering from Parkinson’s disease but refuses to let that stop him from working out. He was badly in need of a vehicle so he could get off his bicycle which was becoming dangerous for him to ride.

Ever Heard of the CrossFit Total? It’s CrossFit’s approach to testing absolute strength in a similar way to a powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting meet. There are three lifts – back squat, deadlift and strict press – and you get three attempts at each lift. It was developed as “a way to work more strength into the program while maintaining the CrossFit approach to it.” But Why? Because back in 2006, Coach Glassman noticed that “people who come to CrossFit from a strength-training background tend to perform better in the key aspects of the program…In essence, it is easier for a lifter to improve his or her time on “Diane” than it is for a runner to develop the ability even to finish the workout without scaling it back to a very light weight.
