As one reader who participated in the event shared: “I had my 3 boys Baylor, Brooks and Benton with me and they took part in the kids WOD. It was a amazing event with cancer survivors. The owner Shane is so humble and he is a great representation of what the CrossFit family and community are. It was truly a humbling experience. I will definitely be doing this every year from here on out.”
“I joined CrossFit a month before my final Spartan race of the year in August 2016. It helped me get ready for the Spartan beast in Breckenridge, CO. It helped so much that I was able to finish the race in full.” — Erik Plate of Steamboat CrossFit in Steamboat Springs, CO.
On July 8, CrossFit Heat in Dallas, TX is hosting a competition and concert to honor the five Dallas police officers who were killed on duty. A group of police officers, FBI agents and the IRS Criminal Intelligence Division teamed up with CrossFit Heat to put together the fundraising event.

John Swanson purchased an InBody 370 body-composition scanner in 2014 to prove a point.
The owner of CrossFit Fast Factory in Sartell, Minnesota, runs on-ramp programs for new members. When the on-ramp is done, Swanson and his coaches ask the members, “How are your pants fitting? How’s your movement? How’s your energy level? How’s your mood?”
“But coach, my weight didn’t change,” many people reply.
Swanson got tired of trying to explain how the scale is not an accurate measure of health, especially for a person who is putting on muscle. He’d tell the new members they were losing fat but gaining muscle, but the message wasn’t getting through because of the fixation on a traditional scale that measures only weight.
