QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Oh God. I just realized I’m stuck with me my whole life.” — Anna Kendrick, actress.
CARRY A 100 POUND D-BALL UP A MOUNTAIN WITH ME?
Um what?
Late one evening,Ty Holbrook, owner of CrossFit Cimmeria in Greshman, OR was tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep. When he got a great idea to raise many to replace ailing equipment at the box.
I don’t like the sound of this.
He grabbed one of his coaches, Brian Carrier, and set off pulling a sled 44 miles and 3,000 vertical feet up the top of the Mt. Hood Skibowl. Twenty-five long hours later, the two reached the top.
That sounds terrible.
It really does. So terrible in fact that the pair are planning to repeat the feat, this time lugging a 100 pound d-ball the entire 44 miles. They’re also donating half the funds raised to the Rockwood Boys & Girls Club.
The two athletes who are embarking at 4 AM on November 4th for an estimated 30 hour journey, and you can donate here.

Cascade Classic — The significance…It was Carleen Mathews first competition since withdrawing from the 2017 CrossFit Games due to an injury and her team placed first overall. Also noteworthy, Natalie Newhart, who was banned from CrossFit competitions in early 2016 after testing positive for PEDs, competed and placed fifth in the Elite Women’s division.
Maddy’s Wrist Surgery — This weekend, Maddy Myers chose to get surgery on her left wrist which she tweaked back in July. Originally thought to be just a sprain, her coach CJ Martin says, “Maddy is 20-years-old with a bright future, so the decision to get it repaired now and strive for future goals was easy.”
What to tell your friend who’s going to be late to class…
Bring a doctors note. Mattie Rogers is currently studying at Valencia College in Orlando, FL and enrolled in a weightlifting class cause she needs one more credit — a pretty easy A for the top 69kg weightlifter in the country you’d think. Not so fast. Apparently the attendence policy states she’ll fail if she misses class to compete at worlds this December. So she got the CEO of USA Weightlifting to write her a doctor’s note. We’ll see if it works.
