Eight-time Games veteran Travis Mayer makes the trip across the pond to give the field an American contender. Mayer placed 18th at the Games in August.
Briant Guillaume and Giorgos Karavis each placed 26th and 37th respectively at the Games to round out the athletes from this past season.
Four-time Games athlete Adrian Mundwiler leads a group of past Games qualifiers looking to push the recent athletes for podium finishes. He’s joined by Alex Kotoulas, Bronislaw Olenkowicz, David Shorunke, Elijah Muhammad and Luka Đukić.
Aleksandr Plyushkin competed at the Games this year as a member of the KT CrossFit team from Russia.

Roman Khrennikov and Ricky Garard: 2022 CrossFit Games Athlete Studies
Last week we rolled out the first in a series of articles in which we take a deep dive into the performances of a pair of athletes from the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games. The first article featured Haley Adams and Gabriela Migala and explored whether or not this year was actually a worse performance by them on the field of play, despite their worse finish on the leaderboard.
In part two of the series we are focusing on the second and third place finishers in the men’s division, Roman Khrennikov and Ricky Garard, who both missed out on a majority of the prime of their athletic career in the sport, at the Games, for very different reasons.
There are three primary questions we want to explore today:
How different were their performances at the Games this year?
Who has more potential in 2023?
How impressive were these 2nd and 3rd place performances historically?
Best Group of Rogue Invitational Online Qualifiers Yet?
The Rogue Invitational online qualifier leaderboard has been finalized and we’re taking a first look at which athletes will be heading to Austin, TX to prove their fitness. Morning Chalk Up’s Lauren Kalil sits down with Brian Friend to discuss how they might stack up against the rest of the field, and answer the question of whether this is the best group of “Q” qualifiers yet.
Rogue Finalizes RX Leaderboard: Best Group of Rogue Qualifiers Ever?
This year’s Rogue Online Qualifier, often referred to as the “Q”, ran August 25-28. A minimum of five men and five women were guaranteed spots to the live Rogue Invitational which will take place October 28-30 in Austin,TX.
There has been quite a bit of shuffling around on the leaderboard as several athletes failed to meet the guidelines as outlined in the directions for the competition since the window to enter scores ended.
On September 6, the asterisks denoting a “not finalized leaderboard” were removed for the Rx division (as of this writing the scaled leaderboard is still listed as not finalized), meaning we know of at least five men and five women who have earned their spot to compete in the live event at the end of October; and it’s a pretty noteworthy list, though with only one 2022 CrossFit Games individual athlete, not necessarily for the traditional reasons.

Some of the names are more recognizable to the casual fan than others, but each of them has a compelling storyline, which can really be broken down into five groups:
