CHALK UP READS
There, I said it. I’m going to prepare for 26.2 miles by doing a lot of not running.
I’ll admit, the idea of training through another winter for another marathon was not appealing. I’ve done the Big Sur International Marathon for the last three years, and while I love it, my ability to train adequately for it has declined. Last year was the first time I ever cheated on my training plan—skipping five or six of my longest runs and logging only a single 20-miler. Work had just gotten so insane that by the weekend, I had zero energy to cart myself around for hours and hours.
