Remind me?

Last week, it was revealed that CrossFit Riviera, who won the Meridian Regional was disqualified for violating a rule that a rule which stats that a “Licensee of Record” for an affiliate may not compete on another affiliate’s team. This rule was enforced even though the new affiliate hasn’t opened yet.

So who’s taking their place?

Sixth placed CrossFit PBM Unite from Pretoria, South Africa will be taking their place. They received the official word from CrossFit HQ on Friday night around 11PM local time.

“It was a surprise,” said Lize Nel, who competed with CrossFit PBM Unite. “We had heard about Riviera’s disqualification, but didn’t think it [would] concerns us in any way.”

Lize said the team didn’t stop training after Regionals and they officially kicked off Games training yesterday.

Sixth? What about the fifth place team?

Fifth placed CrossFit Galileo told us they were first reached out to on Thursday, June, 13, but upon further review they too were disqualified.

According to a press release from CrossFit HQ, “a review of [CrossFit Galileo’s] Event 4 performance resulted in a score adjustment. The adjustment more than closed the relatively small point spread between Galiléô and CrossFit PBM Unite. PBM ended up with a total of 430 points to Galiléô’s 418 and has received an invitation to the CrossFit Games.”

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get more info on what exactly the scoring error was.
