Through the course of the pandemic, many of us have had a hard time adjusting and figuring out a new way of life going forward. M4G Crossfit in Indianapolis, IN had to shut down for a short while but was fortunate enough to open back up with a limited capacity in the summer of 2020.

While M4G is a gym and teaches its members the value of functional fitness and ability, M4G is also a family and a community that not only fosters growth but empowers and supports its members. Due to the hardships we have all faced throughout this last year, I sought to empower some of the members to volunteer and tell their stories and show the impact CrossFit has had beyond physical strength. This video, produced and edited by MMNT Media and John Rhorer (two other coaches at M4G), highlights the powerful impact CrossFit has on mental health.

I asked members of my gym to come together to tell their stories. They were asked two questions — “Describe your mental health status prior to Crossfit” and “How has Crossfit positively impacted your mental health?.”

We feel it is very important to normalize mental health and discussions surrounding it. We also feel that people need to know they’re not alone and that many people are struggling with similar things. This video opened a 45-minute discussion with members at our gym that led to many tears, many smiles, and many fewer burdens to carry alone.

This is my community.

This is why we Crossfit.
