ATHX Hosts Inaugural Training Camp, Athletes Prep for Berlin

As the lines between CrossFit, functional fitness, and hybrid sports continue to blur, ATHX is emerging as a key proving ground for the next generation of performance-focused competition.
- Backed by Adidas, the sport has attracted top CrossFit athletes like Lucy McGonigle, Chandler Smith, and Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson, who competed earlier this year.
The details: The ATHX Games is a UK-based hybrid fitness competition blending strength, endurance, and speed across a series of high-intensity events.
Designed for athletes of all levels, the format includes challenges like barbell lifts, cardio machines, functional movements, and tactical workouts that test both power and endurance.
- With divisions for everyone from elite athletes to everyday competitors, ATHX strives to foster an inclusive yet competitive environment where performance and grit take center stage.
On October 25, ATHX will make a big leap forward by hosting its first competition outside of the UK, in Berlin, Germany. A number of elite CrossFit and HYROX athletes have signed up to compete, including:
- James Sprague (2024 CrossFit Games champion)
- Jen Muir and Ty Jenkins (2025 CrossFit Games rookies)
- Graham Halliday and Jana Lebenstedt (2025 Elite 15 HYROX racers)
Training camp: To prepare for the upcoming event, ATHX hosted its inaugural training camp in Tenerife, Spain, one of the Canary Islands, earlier this month.
Chandler and Jessi Smith, as well as Adidas athletes Ella Wilkinson, Jorge Fernandez, and Jonne Koski, all joined the aforementioned athletes who are training for Berlin.
The camp also hosted everyday athletes who had the opportunity to train alongside the elites.
- “The goal of the camp is to help athletes improve their technique, skills, and confidence — so that when they step onto the comp floor, they’re ready to perform at their best,” Lisa Brennen, Head of Marketing, ATHX Games, told Morning Chalk Up. “It’s also about deepening their understanding of the ATHX brand, building genuine brand love, and connecting with a community of like-minded people who share the same passion for performances.”
Brennen said the Canary Islands served as the perfect environment for the camp, due to the combination of “performance and paradise.”
Days at the training camp included morning breathwork, followed by technique and endurance workouts, with lifting sessions led by Jessi and Chandler Smith in the afternoon. Participants engaged in team-building games, enjoyed relaxed dinners, boat trips, and used the resort facilities.
- On Instagram, Chandler Smith shared his experience: “Sometimes world-class training is a matter of having elite training partners, and at times it’s about being around elite people…For the longest time, I didn’t understand how putting time into things outside of training could enhance the result on and off the floor, but sharing energy with the folks out here was a great reminder of how 1+1 can equal 3 in the right setting.”
Next year’s camp is currently scheduled for September 21-25; pre-registration is already open.
- The 2026 competitions have also been announced as ATHX continues to expand its reach. The competition will head to Munich, Germany, in February, then to Madrid, Spain, in March. That’s followed by Milan, Italy, and Paris, France, in April.
