QUOTE OF THE DAY + Send us a Quote

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” - Calvin Coolidge

CrossFit Health is Back in Full Force After Year-Long Limbo

The NOBULL CrossFit Games marked the return of fans to Madison, WI, but it also served as the site of another critical moment for the company. CrossFit Health showed up in force to put on panels about nutrition, injuries, cancer, and several other important topics.

One big thing: Once a platform created in 2017 to cover a multitude of topics relating to a healthy lifestyle and educate a network of physicians, CrossFit Health went into a limbo of sorts in 2019 and 2020 after new ownership took over, but has re-emerged with a clear vision and direction.

  • “We’ll be launching programs for providers & patients across the U.S. and we’d love to let you know when we launch in your area,” they posted to Instagram on September 8.
  • “We’re entering a new chapter of CrossFit Health with the vision of revolutionizing healthcare delivery globally by harnessing the power of the CrossFit methodology and including ALL healthcare providers. We will continue to provide education, networking, and solutions to our healthcare crisis with a renewed focus on health, happiness, and performance,” they wrote on September 9.

SHOTS FIRED: Coming off his debut boxing win, Hafthor Bjornsson called out Eddie Hall, who was originally scheduled to fight Hafthor but had to postpone after injuring his wrist.

  • “Keep training Eddie. Because I don’t want to finish you that fast. I want to beat you up.”
  • “Get used to being punched in the face, make sure you spar a lot because I will punch you hard, and it’s gonna hurt.”

Sydney Wells reflects on her first season competing in CrossFit, in an exclusive sit down interview with Morning Chalk Up’s Patrick Clark:

  • “When I qualified [for Semifinals], I’d never really even done muscle-ups before. Three weeks before Vegas I still couldn’t get any. Even just doing some was still an accomplishment.”
  • On seeing her sister Brooke injured during the 1RM snatch event: “It was probably one of the most traumatic things I’ve ever been a part of. She handled it really well. I think she was more upset about not being able to continue competing than the injury.”
  • Off season: “I’m doing Beach Brawl…I’m doing individual and team. Friday, Saturday is individual. Sunday is team.”
  • Next season: “Making the Games is one of my goals. I don’t know the timeline for that.”

Katrin Davidsdottir and Annie Thorisdottir Launch Line of Athlete-Focused Earphones

Two-time CrossFit Games champions Katrin Davidsdottir and Annie Thorisdottir have partnered together to shake up the headphone industry. They have unveiled the Dottir Freedom On-Grid wireless earphones, which boast a 72-hour charge time and the ability to hold up in both the gym and the water.

The details: Available to preorder for £120 / $150, the Dottir Freedom On-Grid earphones feature a “rugged, IPX7 water and sweatproof design” with a wrap-around design that keeps them in place during intense WODs and swimming workouts. The active, noise-canceling system keeps athletes focused while training.

  • The Red Dot Award-winning earphones feature three microphones in each earpiece, as well as volume controls and a multi-function button.
  • A wireless charging case provides 72 hours of playtime with five total charges. The Bluetooth connection provides a range up to 10 meters/33 feet.

“We have been looking for a headphone to withstand the demands of our training schedule for some time,” said Davidsdottir and Thorisdottir in a statement. “We haven’t found one yet that has the battery life, waterproofing or fit that complements our training style and so we decided to design and launch our own. Dóttir Freedom On-Grid has all the features and considerations that we feel will complement anyone who is active, no matter what your sport”.

Why it matters: Thorisdottir already took the leap to expand her business portfolio by investing in Yerbae, joining several prominent athletes from other sports. Launching the earphone company with Davidsdottir continues this trend and ensures that both champs will have even more options to earn money once they walk away from the competition floor.
