Dubai CrossFit Championship Sends Out Invites to Past Winners
Over the weekend, the Dubai CrossFit Championship sent out invitations to all previous winners, the Morning Chalk Up has learned.
Noah Ohlsen, Mathew Fraser, Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson, Annie Thorisdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir all received an invitation to bypass the online qualifier and compete at the finals in December. Athletes have until October 7th to accept or decline their invitation.
Up until last week, all athletes were required to complete the online qualifier in order to secure a spot for the first sanctioned event. This announcement comes just two days before the start of the three-week online qualifier which will narrow the field down to the top 37 male and female athletes, and 10 teams.
Dubai CrossFit Championship has not responded to request for comment.
We previously reported that Sara Sigmundsdottir was registered for the online qualifier. It seems likely that she will accept her invitation.
In addition, Bethany Shadburne and Camilla Salomonsson Hellman have registered for the online qualifier.
