A few weeks ago I visited Crossfit Iron Legion located in Ocala Florida. This place was awesome. An 8,000 square foot storefront with air conditioning, a must here in central Florida. I also found another 1,500 square feet of outdoor space around back, which leaves so much space for their 450 members. The schedule and directions were right on the main page, so it was very easy to locate and choose a class time. Their schedule offers several programs: CrossFit, CrossFit Lite Forever Fit, IMPACT, gymnastics, UnF*ck Yourself (Strongmanish), Endurance, CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Teens. Additionally, all programming is done in-house by owner Ted Dreaver.
Upon entering, I was met by one of the coaches, Alex Ford, who immediately introduced himself and asked if I was dropping in. The gym was equipped with a full stock of ROGUE fitness barbells, kettlebells, and bumper plates. Additionally, they had some specialized Eleiko weightlifting platforms, jerk blocks, and plenty of Strongman equipment. The gym has platforms running lengthwise throughout the space which is pretty sweet! Attached to the gym is a full-scale pro-shop including a smoothie bar called Brick and Iron Cafe which serves drinks, smoothies, supplements and ready-made grab and go meals. Additionally, they stock apparel, athletic equipment (sleeves, straps, belts) and everything to support an active lifestyle!
They host several Annual Competitions and fundraisers like Down for Donuts, a fundraiser for Down Syndrome, every March and Fenrir’s Mayhem, their fall mega-event.

How to drop in
After searching the area on crossfit.com, I found CrossFit Iron Legion and dropped them an email from their main page. The owner Ted Dreaver responded almost immediately with instructions on how to drop-in, which began once I arrived for my scheduled class.
