“The toes to bar are such a trap in that workout:” Wisdom from Patrick Vellner after a blistering 16:11 on 19.2.

When Patrick Vellner told me his score on 19.2 after his first and only shot at it on Friday, my immediate response was “oh, f*&k.”
We already know that Vellner thought 19.2 was “easy” so what does have to say about the details of a workout that only about a hundred athletes finished worldwide?
“The toes to bar are such a trap in that workout, and literally everyone falls for it,” says Vellner. “I didn’t even for a second consider doing a single set unbroken.”
At the close of submissions, Vellner’s 16:11 was good enough for second place in 19.2 just behind some guy named Richard Froning, Jr. and 38th overall worldwide.
“I expect myself to be up there. I wasn’t happy about last week, so I was happy to have a good run this week.”
