Aegidius Withdraws Amid Back Injury

An ongoing back injury kept Frederik Aegidius from take the field in event 1. The Danish national champion decided to withdraw instead of risking further injury.

“I am in the best shape I’ve ever been in, but my back was not having it this year. Making the choice not to take the floor is always hard as a competitor, but taking the floor knowing that you will not meet your own expectations are even worse,” he wrote on Instagram.

As a national champion, the CrossFit Games would not have backfilled even if he withdrew before competition.
