Two-time CrossFit Games champion and four-time podium finisher, Katrin Davidsdottir, is the face of WHOOP’s CrossFit specific digital ad campaign, Know Yourself, aimed at everyday CrossFitters looking to gain deeper insights into their health and fitness. The ad campaign features video footage of Davidsdottir competing during stage 1 of the CrossFit Games, where she used WHOOP data to optimize her recovery to come back strong on day 2.

  • Davidsdottir on the WHOOP Podcast: “All the little things that you think are so little add up to great things. My No. 1 recovery [tool] is always sleep. I’ll skip everything, even at the Games, I’ll skip body work if I need to sleep.”

Data and metric obsessed CrossFit athletes have long used trackers like WHOOP to monitor their bodies vitals both during and outside of training, most notably Katrin Davidsdottir, Brooke Wells and Noah Ohlsen, who also wore the bands during the two stages of the 2020 CrossFit Games.

  • For example, WHOOP built out a data visualization of Davidsdottir’s heart rate throughout her 2 minute, 54 second winning handstand hold.

Going deeper: According to a CNBC article published two weeks ago, the Boston-based wearable tech company is now valued at $1.2 billion after they closed a $100 million Series E funding round. The start-up has been gaining traction in recent months as professional athletes across all major sports have begun investing in and using the bands.
