Sara Sigmundsdottir and her fans had a brief scare Friday as she withdrew from Wodapalooza suddenly after the third event: The MIA Bar Complex. Sigmundsdottir withdrew out of an abundance of caution after aggravating her knee.

One big thing: Sigmundsdottir tore her ACL last March and has been working hard to rehabilitate after surgery. She only recently received clearance from her doctors to resume training at 100%. She went on to make her competition debut in December, finishing seventh.

Status update: Sigmundsdottir updated fans on Instagram that she’d received an MRI to determine if there were any issues.

  • “I had a big scare in Event 3 on Friday at Wodapalooza and therefore the last 72 hours have been insanely stressful. I needed to have an MRI scan done on my knee and then I needed to count on help from AMAZING PEOPLE in various locations all around the world to examine it and determine what situation I was faced with.”
  • “Thankfully I still have a fighting chance for my 2022 CrossFit Games season to be ON and I am prepared to do WHATEVER IT TAKES for that to happen!!!”

Sigmundsdottir’s manager, Snorri Baron, confirmed that she intends to continue with the 2022 CrossFit Games season which kicks off February 24 with the CrossFit Open.
