February 4 marks the start of the month-long Nate WOD Challenge, an annual event to raise money for One Summit, a nonprofit organization that builds resilience in kids battling cancer through 1:1 mentorship with a Navy SEAL.

The details: The 2022 Nate WOD Challenge will take place from February 4 until March 4 at CrossFit boxes across the country. Participants can register online as either an individual or as a team while those unable to complete the workout can opt to make a donation.

  • The Nate WOD honor brothers Nate and Josh Hardy. Nate was a Navy SEAL and Purple Heart recipient who lost his life in action on February 4, 2008. Josh lost his battle to childhood cancer.
  • 2022 marks the second year in which the Nate WOD Challenge lasts one full month. One Summit made this change in 2021 to work around COVID restrictions at CrossFit boxes.

The WOD

AMRAP in 20 minutes
2 Muscle-Ups
4 Handstand Push-Ups
8 Kettlebell Swings (2/1.5 pood)

The 2021 version of the Nate WOD Challenge raised more than $19,000 for One Summit. Organizers have set a new goal for 2022. They hope to raise $25,000 during the month-long challenge.

The prizes: Once again, participants in the Nate WOD Challenge will have the opportunity to compete for prizes, courtesy of NOBULL. Prizes will go to the gym with the most rounds completed, the person with the highest individual score, and the gym that raises the most money.

  • Individuals are only eligible for prizes if they fundraise $75. Teams will be eligible for prizes if they fundraise $500. Participants will also be eligible for a 20% discount at RokFit, a company that creates athletic streetwear.
  • NOBULL donated $2,000 in gift cards as prizes. $600 will go to the gym with the most completed rounds, $100 will go to the highest-scoring male and female participants, and $1,200 will go to the gym that raises the most money.

A new supporter: While NOBULL will make its return to the Nate WOD Challenge, a new company will join and lend significant support. Podium Nutrition, the creation of CrossFit darlings Mat Fraser, Heber Cannon, Marston Sawyers, and industry veterans Paul Haverland and Jeremy Osborne, will send Podium Hydro & Salt and Podium Fuse to the participating CrossFit boxes.
