CrossFit enthusiasts have long expressed a desire to purchase custom jerseys for their favorite athletes. Now they can secure some South Beach-themed options while helping give back.

The details: TYR Wodapalooza announced on December 16 that there would be limited-edition athlete t-shirts for the annual celebration of fitness. These lightweight, ultra-soft tees will feature the name and country of the respective elite athletes.

  • The price of each athlete’s t-shirt will be $39.99. TYR will take $20 of that price and give it directly back to the athlete as a show of support.
  • The t-shirts for the female athletes will be pink while the t-shirts for the male athletes will be blue. These two options fit with the color scheme that CrossFitters associate with TYR Wodapalooza, as well as the neon lights of South Beach.

According to Loud and Live, the company that puts on TYR Wodapalooza and multiple other top competitions, the response has been significant. There have been 130 athletes across multiple divisions that have opted into this t-shirt program.

  • The list of available t-shirts includes Emma Cary, Jayson Hopper, Roman Khrennikov, Arielle Loewen, Nick Mathew, Travis Mayer, Emily Rolfe, and James Sprague among many, many others.
  • There are some names missing from the list of available options. This is understandable considering that they are sponsored by such companies as NOBULL and Gymshark.

Why this matters: The top athletes in the CrossFit space have numerous opportunities to make money, such as sponsorship deals with 1st Phorm, Podium, Chipotle, Reebok, TYR, NOBULL, and other companies. Adding in competition prizes only adds to the available funds.

Newer athletes in the space or those that are still trying to reach the next level don’t have these same opportunities. $20 per t-shirt sale isn’t going to help them buy a new house, but it will potentially help offset some of the costs associated with traveling to and competing in South Florida.
