Lazar Djukic Climbs Up the Leaderboard on Moving Day
Lazar Djukic came to the competition floor with fire on day three of the 2023 NOBULL CrossFit Games, jumping seven spots up the leaderboard to close out Saturday in nineth place.
Remind me: Djukic, a three-time CrossFit Games athlete who finished 8th in last year’s competition, had a rollercoaster start to the weekend, earning 35th place in Test 1: Ride.
- The Serbian athlete returned with heat in Test 2: Pig Chipper, to earn a second place finish, but fell back with a 22nd place finish in Test 3: Inverted Medley, an 18th place finish in test 4: The Alpaca Redux, and a 19th place finish in Test 5: Ski-Bag.
- Djukic earned a third place finish in Friday’s final test, Helena, which was enough to land him in 16th heading into Saturday.
Putting the move on, on moving day: Djukic came into Saturday’s first test, the Cross-Country 5K, with speed, finishing in fourth, just behind leader Roman Khrennikov.
- Djukic followed up this top-five placement with sixth place in Test 8 Intervals, propelling himself six spots forward on the leaderboard into tenth place.
- And in the final event, Olympic Total, Djukic solidified his Saturday move by lifting a total of 607 pounds, enough to earn a 20th-place finish, leaving him in nine place at the end of the day.
The bottom line: Throughout the weekend, Djukic’s performance has only gotten stronger. If Sunday is anything like Saturday, Djukic’s fire will continue to burn, landing him even further up the leaderboard.
