On August 13, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, the eight-time Fittest Woman on Earth, took to YouTube to give fans an inside look at her training in the days before the 2025 CrossFit Games. And while she called it a “taper week,” for most of us, it would be a very tough week of training.

  • “We can only go up from here, and I think it’s really important to know where I’m at,” Toomey-Orr said in the video.

How Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Trained for the 2025 CrossFit Games

In the week leading up to the Games, Toomey-Orr hosted several athletes at the PRVN HQ in Nashville, TN, including Ricky Garard, Jay Crouch, Lucy McGonigle, Maddie Sturt, and others. The athletes tested workouts that had been released, and Toomey-Orr competed directly with the boys.

The training clips show her doing final run-throughs on equipment programmed in Games events, such as the yoke and parallel handstand push-ups, as well as working on mobility and core strength.

In an earlier interview with the Morning Chalk Up, PRVN CEO Nic Johnston said, “What Tia and Shane [Orr] have built when it comes to Games preparation goes far beyond just programming workouts. It’s about the mental side of training, the lessons, the small daily challenges that ultimately build resilience.”

  • He continued, “Even though CrossFit is an individual sport, what we saw this season was the creation of a team-first culture that changed the game for all of our athletes… They shared the same nerves, doubts, and experiences, and that created a sense of calm throughout the training camp that then carried into competition.”

Remind me: Toomey-Orr came to Albany eying a historic eighth CrossFit Games victory, and she did just that, earning the crown of Fittest Woman on Earth earlier this month.

3 Quick Stats About Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr’s CrossFit Games History

  1. Toomey-Orr first qualified for the CrossFit Games in 2015, earning Rookie of the Year honors and finishing in second place.
  2. In 10 years of competing at the Games, Toomey-Orr has never finished off the podium. She placed second in her first two attempts and took first in her next eight appearances.
  3. In Albany, she won four events, bringing her career total to 45. The other four athletes on the top-five all-time career event win list at the Games are Mat Fraser with 29, Rich Froning with 16, Annie Thorisdottir with 14, and Katrin Davidsdottir with 13.

In the video, Toomey-Orr credits her parents for their love and support. Throughout, her father is shown cheering her on and watching her train.

  • “They have shown me the way. They have supported me through everything, even before CrossFit, just when I was a little girl wanting to do sports to be able to have my mum and dad. My dad standing here today watching me train, it’s almost like a privilege to have, and it’s something that I definitely don’t take lightly,” said Toomey-Orr.

Clearly, the work done at PRVN HQ paid off.

Garard ended up taking second in the men’s division, and Crouch finished sixth. Other PRVN athletes also had outstanding performances, including Olivia Kerstetter, who took third place, and Maddie Sturt, who finished sixth.

  • “Having five PRVN athletes finish in the top six overall is something we have never seen before, not just for us, but in the sport,” said Johnston, adding that he credits the training environment at PRVN as a huge reason for their success.
